I have been lurking around here and watching a ton of "Let's Play DC:B",over the past few weeks and as soon as Humble Bundle put it on sale, I had to go for it. I want to say thank you to the Devs for what you have put into this game. I also want to say thank you, to all the people on the forum here, for helping me decide on this purchase. Any questions I had were already answered on here, (and the DC:B Steam forum) All gave very high praise for this game and sold me on what made this strategy title different. Immersion and Role-Playing like I've never felt. I am NOT a 'grognard'. (I didn't even know what that word meant until I started reading game reviews on Wargaming websites.) I didn't understand counters (which I now use Counters for DC:B). I actually like Counters BETTER now. I also now know about HQ, PZC OOB, supply logistics, theaters and that Germany had a different types of RR than the Soviets. Never knew that stuff. I come from a world of CIV 5, Age of Wonders, PanzerCorps, OOB and XCOM. I was obviously intimidated to try a game of this magnitude (I sorta' gave up on other Grand Strategy games like HOI3, VIC2, EUIV etc.) because there was just too much for me, personally, to handle. EUIV is pretty streamlined but I think I am just never going to be an RTS gamer (even pausible-RTS). I am a TBS gamer so that drew me in, as well. I am super excited to keep digging in and being immersed by everything this title has to offer. I truly feel like it's June 1941 and I am a part of the German regime. I love the decision system, the freedom I have to do what I want with my turns but I also like that the game gives you clear goals of what you are trying to accomplish (I.E.- capture Leningrad). That is a big help to someone that has never played a game of this complexity before and let's me keep focus and not feel "lost". Everything I have ran into, thus far, has a very simple explanation of how the mechanic works. I have learned more about WWII history, in a few days, than I probably did all during grade school. Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa is a perfect example of how PC Gaming can be fun, educational and gives you a feeling of interactivity that movies and tv shows cannot accomplish. My wife always bugs me and says "why don't you like watching movies anymore?" Why watch a movie when I can BE the movie. Duh! I will probably also purchase the first 2 DC games, so I can learn more details about the Poland Invasion and other significant parts of the War. I don't mind supporting a DEV that puts this much passion into his product. I would really love 39-45, all with this type game engine and have my results carry over from Poland, to Russia, etc. Is there any games that do that? Now I just need to figure out how many units to move this turn. ;)
