overkill01 -> searching a specific hex (1/30/2017 1:52:49 PM)

Is there a search option for finding a certain hex ? as in War in the west for example.
I'm new to this game and can't seem to find this.

Tools like the combat reporter will allow you to zoom to the location of hexes that make it on reports. PS Combat reporter is stickied to one of the WITPAE sub-forms, I can't remember which.

Some of the normal interface screens allow you to click to the location of a particular base or TF.

For bases, you don't need to click on them - just do a mouseover and the pop up info includes the hex coordinates.

In this game, you can Recon a specific hex, but search (either Naval Search or ASW) uses search arcs, which can be player-defined. Look in the manual for Detection Level. Ground Bombing (air) & Bombardment (naval) attack effects are generally improved when you've got a high DL on the target. To attack ships, you've got to search for & find them.

If there is ever a quality of life update to AE, I'd love for the OPS or CR screen to hyperlink to units in question.

That would be ideal, but for the OP info, you can locate units by using the "all units" buttons at the top of the map screen. Note that the "all naval air units" button does not show all the aircraft units belonging to the navy, but all aircraft units and fragments on board ships. That includes units being shipped on Transport and Air Transport TFs.

Once you find the unit on the list just click on its location hypertext to go to it or click on the unit if you just want to check unit info/settings.

EDIT: PS - bases can be handled the same way- use the button with the star on it to find Allied bases, or if you are Japan, the button with the rising sun logo.
