Has anyone else noted the recorder is back in the most recent builds?

Peter66 -> RE: Latest SR (2/19/2017 8:10:56 PM)

I have and what a useful feature it is. Didn't use it before but I'm definitely using it in all my scenarios from now on.

Thats great news! Like I said in my post before I never used it and honestly probably wont but nice to have. It was always about the principle of it.
If they have indeed listened to their devoted long time customers on this then I give them all the credit and praise. I have always supported everything these guys have done and for me they set the bar for good devs and I will gladly return hold them in that regard again and support them any way I can.

Bravo gentlemen, if this is truly the case.

Here's my two cents on this. You're all getting a fantastic deal for the price you paid.

The DB alone is worth thousands of dollars. A single copy of the latest print edition of Jane's Fighting Ships will cost you around $1300. I assume their other editions are similarly priced. And you get all that updated constantly, AND IN A FORM YOU CAN USE IN A SIMULATION, at your fingertips. And that's just the DB. Modeling things like we do in CMANO everyday costs the DoD big time. It is no wonder the devs are branching out, as they rightly should.

You want recording? FRAPS is out there, and cheaply. Heck i think NVIDIA has a recording feature built into their video cards right now. Or Stream it on Twitch, you'll get recorded AND have the chance to show the sim off to people who may be interested and buy a copy, further enlarging our community.

The devs are doing a fantastic job, and have done more than any other dev team i have run into. Big things are coming guys, They have hinted at it for awhile now, and its gonna be big.

What SSN754planker said. Even online access to similar Jane's database used to be around $400/month.

The recorder feature in CMANO has nothing to do with FRAPS or the NVIDIA built-in recorder. It is more like the feature in the ATC3 and 4 from Technobrain, where you can retake control anywhere in the recording. Much more powerful than any just-record-and-replay soft.

I have to say that I haven't used the Recording feature myself, just once recently doing the AAR but dropped it as I got a constant error message because of lack of space, IIRC. But this is not exactly the point. As Zaslon pointed out, it is the fact that it could sit a precedent, and next time, it could be a more useful feature the one chopped out.

I've stated several times, here and on other forums, that these developers are truly wonderful, way ahead of almost any other I know of, constantly supporting a game launched 4 years ago. This said, however, lots of these improvements were bug fixing and polishment to bring CMANO to what it should have been on release, something one would expect from a serious company.

Guys can we let this string die. The feature is back in.

Thanks!

Mike
