I'm playing a game as just the Soviets from 1939 just to see how the AI does things. (I've also been spamming British diplomacy to bring USSR to higher mobilization).

In February 1940 I saw Germany invade just the Netherlands and Luxemburg, and thought "that's interesting", and they moved a bunch of units into the Netherlands, but were too crowded so I'm sure they missed many opportunities to attack. Then, once their units had exhausted all their possible moves, they declared war on Belgium at the END of their turn, and didn't move any units into it, thus allowing the Allies to have a full turn preparing its defense and to get MPPs from it for free. I'm sure this is unintended behavior.

I think I have a save from at most 2 turns before, and I saved right after I saw it happen. Should I attach both? Also, is there a way to watch replays of turns in this? If so, how?

Also, just for confirmation, if I select the AI to play the other countries, they do everything on their own, even research and diplomacy, right?

Hi Ame,

Sometimes it can happen where the Axis AI does not end with a coordinated attack on all three of Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, it is a rare occurrence that is dependent upon how the available units line up on the western front, but I believe in this case it was not that Belgium was attacked at the end of their turn, but rather that Belgium joined the Allies instead.

If you have a saved turn I'd be happy to take a look and confirm.

Also, to answer your question yes the AI will purchase, perform research and diplomacy on its own for the friendly majors you've set the AI to control.

In my current game the Axis computer attacked BeNeLux during a winter snowstorm, which blunted their performance. It must not happen this way very often, and I don't know if it can be prevented.

I've seen some pretty slick 1940 invasions by the AI. I'm impressed with the AI; it does single envelopments, double envelopments, and can even make an excellent parachute drop behind your lines.
