One I would like to see...[:)]

Blond_Knight -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/16/2017 12:29:22 PM)

Ummmm no.

I cant say if it was the 28 Days later 'In a heart beat' music. Or the indirect tank fire that did me in, but no.
This is to history as 300 was to the battle of Thermopylae.

zakblood -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/16/2017 2:18:54 PM)

lol, oh yes, a must see for the fun value, er not, don't thinks it's for me, i like war films to be real, not fantasy

300 was a very entertaining movie, though. [:D]

There can't ever be too many WWII movies out, can there.

agreed and no worse than Fury, Lone Survivor, Unbroken, HACKSAW RIDGE in capitals as one of the worse for later laughs

71 wasn't a bad film imo

THE WATER DIVINER, in caps as again it wasn't a real war film, but not bad all the same

Anthropoid, rather slow and boring

Siege of Jadotville, a very good film if you like the place, the unit and also a good story, and seemed quite believable as well

Disgusted, I turned off 300 Spartans a half hour into the film.

I liked it as well. I just thought it bad that they didn't show more from the relief attempt. I think that the events would have been better explained then.

Absolutely. What were those Soviets? Convicts? How did they get a new T-34? How did they know how to operate it? And a shot that pierces a Panther's frontal armor? Even if that was remotely possible this doesn't look like an historical piece. As you say, a "300"-ish kind of comic.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/16/2017 8:51:34 PM)

Reminds me of Stalingrad (2013). From this trailer I can see the Russians are making yet another Hollywoodesque clone. No thanks.

Strange. The guy is wearing a Nazi concentration camp uniform (?). The black triangle on the chest was for "asocials". So not a POW.

My eyes are bleeding!!

D'oh! I meant 300.

warspite1 -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/16/2017 11:31:21 PM)

As history I have no idea how accurate 300 was - but probably not [:D]

But as pure entertainment I thought it was a great film - as was the follow-up (but then the latter did have Eva Green in it, who absolutely stole the film [&o].... [:)]

freeboy -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/17/2017 12:44:26 AM)

its too bad the toys look real right up to the toys blowing up.. ggcb.. fantasy is not what I am looking for.. whats next p51s vs dragons?, oh no they did that too

300 the movie is based on a comic of same name. And both are based on the story of the battle, NOT history of it.

Jagdtiger14 -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/17/2017 6:21:06 PM)

In addition to what has already been mentioned above...Panthers with Soviet markings on them, not in hull down positions and sitting in a depression. Pure trash. Even the Russian Moby Dick copy "White Tiger" was far better (loved the sound of the 88 in that one).

There was a Queen Artemisia of Halicarnassus...but her importance may have been exaggerated by Herodotus, who was also from that city.

demyansk -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/18/2017 12:30:57 AM)

I was waiting for Godzilla to make an appearance. What's up with the striped uniforms and the Panzer commander who is so clean looking he could be in the Mr Clean commercial.

Plus, that ricochet shot, interesting

I thought we were talking about the "300" with Carmen Electra in it [:D]

I don't know what they were smoking when filming that T-34 though. Whatever it was I don't they sell it at my grocery store.

The four-man crew indicates it was a T34-76, whose gun was not that effective against the Panzer V. And do the prison uniforms indicate the crew was recently returned from exile in Siberia?

TulliusDetritus -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/19/2017 7:56:28 PM)

That's a German concentration camp outfit: the triangle on the chest.

They show the tank, it's T-34/85.

freeboy -> RE: T-34, the movie. (2/19/2017 11:32:33 PM)

There is a Chinese film with the most realistic battle scenes for the era I have ever seen on film.. Ill track the name down..
