i actually managed to get all the other problems Romania was having but i just cant get the guards rifle platoon fixed.

berto -> RE: east front OOB editor (5/21/2017 10:13:32 PM)

When you edit the platoon .oob files, are you remembering to use the -X NoEncryption option?

bde4soldier223 -> RE: east front OOB editor (5/21/2017 10:51:09 PM)

how do you that?

berto -> RE: east front OOB editor (5/22/2017 1:38:37 AM)

It's described in the linked-to Coder Diary. See the link in Post #32.

It is also mentioned in the 5.29 Encryption section of the JTCS Manual, on p. 68 or thereabouts.

In a few words: If you modify the platoon .oob files, your changes won't take effect unless you use the -X NoEncryption option in the manner described.

ok i'll try that. would that work for the east front org editor?

if i would make a scenario to play against another player...would it work or would i have to send them the new files.

i dont know if im the only one getting this error.

nobody else has responded, so i dont know if its just me.

im not trying to cheat or anything i just want those units to show up, so if i need to use them i wont run into this error.

A problem is that the -X NoEncryption option only applies to the game engine. If you launch a PBEM or other two-player game via the frontend, there is no way it can pass the -X option to the game engine. So effectively you can't use player-modified .oob and other data files in two-player games, only in solo play.

But you can do this: After testing changes to your satisfaction, you can send your modified files to the Dev Team (or post them here). We have a standing offer to encrypt user modified data files. Jason Petho says he would be happy to do it.

It's nothing personal. It works this way for everybody.

i will attach the files i made changes to their dates only :)

how do i attach the files on the forums?

berto -> RE: east front OOB editor (5/22/2017 2:41:25 PM)

You first need to create a .zip file. Then, in the forum reply dialog, there is a 'Click here to upload' button (lower left corner of the text edit window). Click the button, and follow the instructions.

bde4soldier223 -> RE: east front OOB editor (5/22/2017 3:38:33 PM)

its telling that the zip file is not supported.

unless im doing something wrong
