is refit mode good only for units near a depot? what if I get on refit mode units on first line?
for example playing on axis side on gothic line, first line units (therefore they are far from a depot) on refit mode will receive more repleacements while fighting and losing soldiers, it's good, but what are the drawbacks? an high trucks wasting?

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I always pull back to a depot away from the front lines to refit. My thinking being that I can avoid them pulling too much supply from a front line depot. There are also trucks to consider, as you say.

Replacements are freight. If you look at the Supply Details of a unit, you will see how much freight it used to receive (or give up) replacements.

So it follows all the same rules as supply, which is also freight.

I don't think refit does anything if you are adjacent to the enemy. Although units will still receive replacements even if they are not on refit.
