gdpsnake -> moving defense bug in 5.01 (5/18/2001 4:32:00 AM)

Don't know if this has been reported yet but....... I've notice in solitare games that the defender moves out of an entrenchment or improved position and retains the defensive advantage! I saw British troops move and the improved position actually moved with them. You can tell by the percentage to hit that they retain the advantage. I've not seen the fortified picture move but the defending troops keep the defensive advantage until next turn. Also, troops moving from one to another position get the advantage. Normal conditions apply at the start of the next turn (i.e. defenders no longer have the advantage) If this is too simulate a "system" of trences then BOTH sides should be able to do it, not just the computer.

Well, I'm not absolutly sure that's what you're talking about, but I know moving only one hex with foot units gives them a defensive bonus. Maybe it's the "advantage" you're talking about?

The percentage number is the chance to hit, I think that's different to the defensive bonus. First you roll to see if you hit, then if you hit, you roll for damage, that's where the defensive bonus comes in. The enemy may be easy to hit but hard to damage, or vice-versa, so I suspect that the enemy is not retaining it's defensive advantage, just remaining hard to hit (probably determined by distance, visibility and experience). Anyone know for sure? Paul
