The recent update worked for the default campaigns but not a user created campaign. How do I resolve this?

Hi Howard,

Just so I am sure I'm on the same page, what exactly would you like to resolve with a user created campaign?

Hubert

Hubert,

The update you released in late February did update the default campaigns. However, it did not update a user campaign that I created. I did not have this issue with previous SC games as my user campaigns were always updated along with the default campaigns. As such, I'm looking for a fix. Thank you.

Hi

If your user campaign has been created from a Default Campaign, i.e. via File -> Save As, you would need to do this again as our updates won't change editable data within User Campaigns. So for instance, if we change the cost of research or any scripts in the default campaigns then they won't automatically change in your campaigns.

Additionally, if it's relevant, a significant proportion of engine related changes will only kick in when a new game is started.

I hope that helps?

Bill

Bill,

Thank you. Yes, the user campaign was created from the default. It sounds like I'll have to recreate the user campaign from a default every time there's an update.

No, edit your campaign with each update. Go thru the change lists for each update and pick which ones you would like to incorporate into your campaign, then figure out how to do it. Most are fairly easy, if you get lost ask here and someone will help out. Many thanks to Bill and Hubert for compiling those change lists [&o]

Edit: Sorry, it sounds like I am telling you what to do. What I should say is 'this is what I do, maybe the same procedure will work for you'.

I would suggest keeping all of your scripts and campaign changes in an external document. You can at that point almost create a checklist of your changes to update, or copy in and new/replacement scripts. This is my method anyways and I was able to re-create my own mod after the update in under an hour despite making 100's of changes/additions.

I appreciate everyone's feedback.
