Big bug with France surrender .

Playing Allied PBEM with 1.3 .
I put an enginner unit in Bordeaux to have defense there .
German took Paris and capital was sent to Bordeaux as expected .
However in the next turn my engineer unit disappeared and Bordeaux was displaying as "Axis owned" but empty .
Yet this didn't provoke France's surrender, on the contrary - my nat moral was reset to 22 500 (100%) .

Same causes have same consequences and this really looks like the kind of bug with Denmark and Norway that Axis had .

Not sure if that's the same thing but a couple of times I had something which sounds similar. An AI-controlled USSR placed an engineer on Moscow; after the engineer was destroyed and Moscow occupied, the USSR had no capital. No save game, sorry.

Hi Vonik,

Do you have a saved turn you could send me so I could take a closer look?

One change we made with the last build is to have National Morale reset to 100% upon surrender and not 50% as we had it in the past. This helps resolve some post surrender/liberation issues that can come up such as with Italy, but the country is still set as surrendered.

Is this possibly the case in your game? For example, France actually surrendered and is set to surrendered just showing National Morale at 100%?

This sounds related to the disappearing capitals error from the initial release of this game, correct? If so this has been corrected since the v1.01 update.

Sorry it was in a PBEM and I don't know how to save (and recover) a copy of a PBEM game .

No, France clearly didn't surrender because I have been playing allied and all my French units were still in game .
The only difference was that when Paris fell, my engineer disappeared and Bordeaux was displaying "Axis occupied" . So I moved in another unit and retook control .
Obviously it handicapped my opponent because as my moral jumped to 100 %, he had to slug it out to Bordeaux even if my moral would have fallen to 0 well before he arrived there .

Btw it was normal that the capital moved to Bordeaux because I had still the BEF near Paris when it fell so that my moral didn't fall to 0 after the capture of Paris .

Thanks for the info and did you receive the Vichy decision? Or was it just a National Morale influenced surrender?

vonik -> RE: Big bug with French capitals (3/31/2017 5:06:55 PM)

No the game is now at the point where my opponent (playing Axis) will probably take Bordeaux next turn forcing the French surrender .
He will then probably have to decide about Vichy but he didn't play his turn yet .

Btw as I said above, there was not and should not be any surrender .
My moral was somewhere around 9 000,Axis took Paris, so it dropped somewhere to 4 000 (brits still near Paris), capital went to Bordeaux . All this was normal and expected .
What was not normal was that in my next (allied) turn I saw my moral at 22 500 (instead of some 3 000 or such), the engineer in Bordeaux disappeared and Bordeaux displayed "Axis occupied" .

So I just moved another unit in Bordeaux and that is where we are right now (Axis turn to play) .

If you can send me a screenshot then, if one is still applicable of the situation, that would be great and will help me to better understand what you are seeing as I've been unable to repeat it in my tests on my end.

vonik -> RE: Big bug with French capitals (3/31/2017 5:59:30 PM)

No sorry, I didn't take an SS and the next time when my opponent has played it will look "normal" - french units wiped out and a german unit in Bordeaux .
Actually I could have even missed this bug if I didn't check the Bordeaux hex and saw that it was "Axis occupied" .
That made me Wonder why the bug didn't make me surrender because I obviously had neither Paris (captured) nor Bordeaux which somehow became "Axis occupied" .

However seeing my moral at 22 500, I concluded that for the computer I DID surrender (even if I shouldn't) but that it forgot for some reason to remove my units and to announce my surrender .
Hence this post .
