Trump2016 -> Air/Naval Interception (4/8/2017 1:32:11 PM)

My apologizes if this has been discussed elsewhere.

There has to be some sort of ability of "maritime bombers/CV" units to intercept enemy warships automatically.

The current mechanics allow a player to conduct naval/amph operations without the opposing player air assets to do any kind of reaction?

I mean you could land a invading unit on a bright sunny day next to a maritime bomber, attack and destroy it and the bomber did not sortie? or 1 or 2 cv's at sea just sit back and not launch as they are swarmed by surface ships?

I know there are examples of one offs were this could/did happen, but as a general rule, it would be considered suicidal.

It hasn't been discussed much, but I like to think that is because it is very obvious.

If the mode is implemented somehow, perhaps when a Bomber Unit is set to "Raider" is when they would be in defensive position to intercept?

There is already intercept coding obviously, and we see that a unit such as Paratroop can go from land movement to air movement, so a bomber in Raid mode should be able to intercept a naval unit. It would just require a bit of work on the back end.

I believe it was the last version of Time of Fury that did a calculation for "air superiority" based on fighters and distance to target etc. If you did't have superiority you could not invade.
