alphali -> Tomahawk attack on Syria-Destroyers not in database ? (4/8/2017 2:07:33 PM)

Regarding the Tomahawk launch at the Syrian airfield, i read in 'The aviationist' that the destroyers were Alreigh Burke-class destroyers USS Porter (DDG-78) and USS Ross (DDG-71). But i had no luck finding them in the database. So I was wondering if they are under a different name or if there is a reason they are not in the database.

Regards

Hi Alpha

We don't have every hull of a class in the db as a discrete unit but try and divide by subclass and year. To find what you're looking for just look for a similar Hull number. DDG 75 etc. and then rename to USS ROSS etc. (select unit, press r).

Thanks

Mike

Yeah I simulated this in command by doing exactly what Mike said, the Hull numbers are included so you can find the ships.

Just a heads up though, apparently the latest model of Tomahawk was used and they are not carrying them by default iirc.

As a general rule of thumb when dealing with USN ships in the post -90's era (DDG-51 & most CG-47 class), you should task tailor the VLS loadout. It is a major flexibility facto that the USN employs.

This is just one of the threads devoted to the topic and there are some good resources linked.

I will add mikmyk words. You would look for the nearest smaller number of the hull. This way you find the ship of the same modification.

The subclass modeling is consistent across pretty much all platforms, for example you won't find Buyan-M Class Corvette 603 Serpukhov in the database either, but you will find the class in the database.

The only class that seems to have every hull modeled is the FFG-1052 class. I think every hull had a different equipment fit, and command seems to have modeled all of them (I'm only being slightly sarcastic here...).
