paulderynck -> 2.4.3 NetPlay Bugs (4/11/2017 8:43:15 PM)

From our test session today we had two bugs. We thought the first was a game stopper but it seems it was situational. The second does seem to be a game stopper that will curtail further testing until the next version that indicates it is fixed.

To recreate the first problem, move the German 2-5 Mot near Kiel north to overrun the Danish ships. I doubt the detail matters but, one CP is captured and the other CP and 2 CAs get rebased. The three ships rebase one-by-one and the Germans flip the 3-5 FTR and miss all three interceptions. The problem seems to be triggered by the Peder Skram. A message comes up on the Allied computer that the Peder Skram has nowhere to rebase to and will be destroyed. This is wrong since its range is doubled and it can reach many ports in the UK. Despite the message the Peder Skram can be placed in Scapa Flow or other ports. After that the Germans try to move the 6-4 MTN north of Kiel to Copenhagen. Normally it can be selected from the fly-out but not now. Using 'Next Unit" to get it in hand and hovering over the first hex across the Danish border it shows an 'X' instead of the target symbol and the Main Form has a message about insufficient movement to enter the hex, hit escape. After escape is hit the 6-4 MTN simply disappears from the German screen.

Here is the German screen at this point. The 2 units in the hex north of Kiel are the 1-4 Div and an ATR. That hex should show 3 units as that is where the 6-4 MTN started. The Russian computer still shows the 6-4 MTN as will be seen later when the screen shot from Don is posted.

We thought this bug could always be replicated as we did all the same steps and got the same result, but the next time we realized that the Peder Skram had been the last of the three ships to rebase. If it is the first to rebase then the game continues normally although we are worried about damaged game files resulting from this because of the next bug posted further down in Post #4.

Here is the German save starting from land movement when the 2-5 MOT was the first unit to move.

Here is the German save from after the Rebase Digression when the Peder Skram was rebased last.

As stated, after the Peder Skram was first to rebase, and although the same error message came up and could be ignored, the game appeared to continue normally for a few more impulses. But the instant the preliminary production screen comes up on the Russian computer, he gets a MadExcept.

On the German side it appears the game is frozen as there's an informational message about US Entry that cannot be dismissed. The German production screen has come up and must be moved aside to try and get at this message, but the OK button on it is non-reponsive. However if the game is exited then a MadExcept is there on the German PC as well (hidden under the other forms).

To replicate, here is a save from US Entry. The US draws a chit (1629 was the value, we think) and does Resources to China and Occupy Greenland/Iceland and both result in Tension being generated. Next comes the MadExcepts.

Here s the bug report from the German PC from when it got its MadExcept.

Finally we also saw a bug that I believe is well known. The Russian Combined move included a number of Undos and the count of remaining land moves showed 4 of 5 left to do when in fact there should have been none.
