doddleson -> FAILED(draw_map_to_screen_from_buffer): No more memory (4/13/2017 2:17:59 PM)

I have attempted three campaigns and have yet to get past the summer of 1940. The same error occurs which says "FAILED(draw_map_to_screen_from_buffer): No more memory."

My system specs are as follows:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit fresh installation)
Intel i7-410MQ (2.8 Ghz)
Dual GeForce GTX 880M
32GB RAM
Dual monitor set up with 3840x2160 (primary) and 2560x1600 (secondary)

The game is updated to version 1.03.

Could you please attach a DxDiag report file to your message / reply?

Please attach a DxDiag report fie.
How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8/10 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8/10)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message
7, if your new and can't / don't have permission etc, then copy paste into a reply

quote:

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.

That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.

run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,

If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)

Check if Nvidia is set as the preferred graphic card:

I get this same error every once in awhile. I restart the game and can go some more turns before it happens again. Attached is the DXDIAG report. All other items are as per the instructions to the previous poster.

Hi Doddleson, Pappy,

If possible could you both try updating to the latest v1.06 update as I suspect it will resolve these issues for you both of you.

Hubert

Same problem, running 1.08 from Steam.

So, we are running out of memory. This can be either Video Memory or Main Memory. Looking at the video memory utilization I see nothing critical. But regarding RAM, the game runs at 1.8GB on my machine. Which is dangerously near to the 2GB limit of 32bit processes. (Why is there no 64bit Version?)
A shot in the dark. I set the game binary to Large Address Awareness to allow it to use more than 2GB of RAM. So far I had no more crashes and noticeable issues. Looks like the game and and its used library are fine with 32bit adresses. My test was with the non-steam version if that makes any difference.

I would like to hear from interested people if this solved the issue. Short instructions can be found here:

@eazrael
You can now post without restrictions.

Thanks. Still annoying to lose a post.

There's an even easier way to enable 4GB address space:

(Does not need installation)
