stolypin -> [FEEDBACK NEEDED] Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 2:50:24 AM)

I'm playing a fairly small scenario using Build 936.2.

Everything works fine for about 10 minutes, then the game slows to a crawl (i.e. 1 second of game time = 30-45 seconds real time).

Memory leak?

ComDev -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 4:27:06 AM)

Thanks for your feedback [8D]

Im pretty certain we nailed the memory stuff but I'd like to have a look at your scen. Can you zip and attach here please.

Thanks!

Hi guys, I was having a similar issue, I fixed it by uninstalling CMANO, deleting the game folder and reinstalling totally from fresh....

It may help you or not, you may have a totally different problemon...

mavfin -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 2:15:59 PM)

I haven't seen any signs of this, but this kind of issue probably depends on your computer configuration.

Dimitris -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 8:43:33 PM)

Any suitable save for this?

JPFisher55 -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 9:39:20 PM)

The game does not seem to crawl, but in the attached scenario, the 5 sec compression time seems slower than normal for
this sized scenario. I have been using the 15 sec time compression which seems similar to the usual 5 sec.

Eggstor -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 10:47:08 PM)

Re: 5x compression - that (and the new 2x compression) runs at 10 pulses per game second when high-fidelity mode is active. It should still run at 1 pulse per game second if high-fidelity mode is not active.

Related (assuming I didn't screw up the above) - the high-fidelity mode text in the "General" and "Game Speed" tabs of the Options dialog box needs to be changed to reflect that it no longer just applies to real-time.

JPFisher55 -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/16/2017 11:57:45 PM)

If you uncheck those boxes, then the 10 pulse won't run at all.

Scenario file and save (when game has slowed) attached.

Dimitris -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/17/2017 7:35:58 AM)

Not seeing a slowdown in the save.

Anyone else ?

How long did you run the scenario? For me, things work fine for about 10 minutes or so and then it grinds almost to a halt. Closing and re-loading gets it going again (for another 10 minutes).

I recall behavior similar to this a year or so ago but haven't experienced it recently until Build 936.

Dimitris -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/18/2017 8:23:20 AM)

There seems to be an intermittent "silent" UI exception popping up. I added a fix which may remedy your problem. Please check on the next update.

Thanks.

I don't believe this is fixed in 936.5.

I'm running the Red Phoenix scenario in the community folder using 936.5 and after 13 minutes, the game has suddenly ground to a halt (the same thing I was experiencing with 936.2).

Anyone else experiencing this?

brucep -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/24/2017 2:20:54 PM)

Yes, I've had slowdowns/stops in almost every large scenario I play now. Sometimes switching to another program (e.g. a web browser) clears it and command starts running again but not always.

Lowlaner2012 -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/24/2017 5:32:58 PM)

Like I said above, I was getting slow down , but a fresh install solved the problem...

The Red Phoenix scenario is small and I experienced the slowdown with it.

One other fact, in case it's helpful: in both instances in which I have experienced this, the game eventually returned to normal speed after 10 minutes or so. But during that 10 minutes, the game only advanced 2 or 3 seconds.

Thanks for your feedback [8D]

Is this 13 minutes of game-time or real time?

If you reload the scen, will it still be slow?

Could you post the savegame (when slowed down) here please, so that we can take a look.

brucep -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/25/2017 5:08:40 PM)

Tried uninstalling command. Deleted the command in SteamApps. Reinstalled. It's still hanging. I can restarted it by opening another program (I've used chrome) but in addition to hanging I've noticed that it sometimes lags when typing text into the mission editor. I've attached a save file (that I generated after getting command moving again by opening and closing chrome).

ComDev -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/25/2017 7:38:59 PM)

Thanks!

This is really weird, I'm not seeing this here at all...

Do you have any special hardware or software setups? Hardware specs? What OS do you use?

Does the slowdown happen after so-and-so many minutes of game time, or real time?

mavfin -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/25/2017 8:28:45 PM)

I've seen some of those same symptoms after 30 minutes or so of real time. Launch another program, and it'll usually clear up so you can save and/or keep playing. Sometimes it won't do much more than save, but if you quit and relaunch it's fine for another 30-45 min.

No-pulse or pulse, doesn't seem to matter. As said by others, savegame doesn't seem to matter. What the actual issue is, it's hard to tell, but it takes 30 min or so before I start seeing issues. It'll get unresponsive to input, including stop/start. I have seen this across at least eight or ten scenarios over the past week. I *feel like* it started really showing these symptoms around 936.4? But I can't prove or give any real data. Just seemed that way in my memory.

I've got a 6-core Xeon 3.33 GHz, and 16 GB of RAM, so I'm not hurting for CPU or memory. It's not brand new by any means, but it doesn't lack power.

brucep -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/26/2017 9:40:06 AM)

I'm running Windows 10 64 bit, i4-4790CPU, 32GB RAM, GTX 1060 6GB. I run with three displays (2 monitors and a TV).

I usually run Command on one of the monitors with the status Window on the other.

I reloaded the save file I sent and let Command run for half an hour without touching it (other than pressing 'OK' when a popup appeared) and it seemed to run fine. I'll have a go at playing it this evening and let you know what happens).

ComDev -> RE: Game slows to a crawl after a few minutes with 936.2 (4/29/2017 12:43:21 PM)

Guys,

Can you please check the latest v1.12 RC and see if the problem is still there.

Thanks!
