Hopefully those units that took Truk are in bad shape and will need a few months to recover. I am sure he has other units already prepped for his next landings.

All right, who added the extra-strength sake to the ship's provision lockers?? [sm=00000003.gif]

It's the start of July 43 and there is the VP screen. Not too much jumps out here.

BTW, how does everyone make those quote boxes from previous posts?

And the production screen. I've managed to get the resource importation onto an even keel and bringing in more fuel to the HI. No significant advances in airplane development but I swear sometimes it seems like the development numbers go backwards. I do get the N1K1 George next month with a 20! gun level. [sm=00000055.gif] Maybe that can start bringing down his heavies.

You must be using the "Fast Reply" posting box at the bottom of the page. If you click on the "Reply" button at the top of any post, it brings up a box that has a "quote" button. Click on that and it will place the quote/unquote code in square brackets for the computer to know what goes in the quote box. Then just put your text in between the two codes (open and close) and when you post it will be in the box.

You mean like this??

BBfanboy -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/29/2018 7:18:15 PM)

That one looks like you used the "Quote" button at the top, which copies the entire post. Sometimes you just want to copy part of a post and have it in the white box, so first hit the "Reply" button to bring up the posting box, then use the quote button to get the two square bracket codes, and paste in the text or image you copied from the original post. Comme ça ...

I'm catching on ever so slowly.

In other news, Scott lost a sub to my Saipan minefield and I lost a large TK to his subs near Formosa.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 12:52:31 AM)

Gentlemen, I believe we may have a carrier battle a-brewin! Scott moved a large CV force near the DEI and did a port strike on me that sank a few support ships. I have 14 CVs/CVLs that are going to come charging at full speed out of Tarakan and a serviceable airfield still intact. I don't think Scott will stick around but, if he does, ships will be sunk. If he stays in the approximate area where he is it will be a knife fight.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 12:53:54 AM)

One worry is that Scott's subs clearly have had an upgrade recently as they are shooting more and hitting more. Must be some new radar. But, we can't cower in port for the whole remaining war and, if Scott sticks around, I'm likely to have significant superiority. Stay tuned!

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 11:32:38 AM)

Bah, the Americans ran away so no carrier battle! In better news, both Guam and Saipan have stockpiles of 50,000 supplies so they should be able to last awhile.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 1:14:21 PM)

Day surface action off of Manakowri caught a fat Ak convoy with four IJN DDs. Three confirmed AK kills and more sinking sounds after the battle. My boys are low on fuel, out of torpedos, and heading home.

[image]local://upfiles/39741/77D05DEB6BDD4616A4659DB82C85E71D.jpg[/image]

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 1:17:42 PM)

And, there may be more action come the new day. Since I have the whole CV force in one place and we're probably in some state of CV parity right now, I might was well go looking to see if I can find US carriers They were here a couple of days ago. And, if they're not here there may be some surface ships I can get.

I can't get the fleet to move further away from those sub sightings without waypoints and I don't want to use those when heading into battle.

Scott had another sub hit a mine at Saipan and I've reinforced the mine field there. It's up to 605 so it's pretty thick.

We'll see if his CVs show up to play!

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 8:50:25 PM)

The neverending battles over Manokawri continue! Here is the strike that went in during the am turn and got some nice results. I think Scott lost at least one CA as there are reports of two float planes dead and he may have lost the CL. Nothing sank on screen, but there were sinking sounds after the battle. Another strike sank three 9 point AKs.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 8:51:44 PM)

Unfortunately, a sub got a torpedo in on the Kaga. There were reports of fires, but, thank God, no flames are spotted. She's slower but still an operating flight platform.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/30/2018 8:54:20 PM)

The plan for the morning. Move away from the sub concentration and still in a position to hit the ships at Manakowri as well as shield the bombardment TFs that are heading in. I did hear an audio report of carriers but did not see any CV TFs. Perhaps that one far away to the East under Wolai (sp?). May be a carrier battle tomorrow and maybe not. My plan is to leave the battle area after tomorrow. The sprint three days ago burned a lot of fuel so I don't want to be stuck out here running on fumes.

I always thought that the Enemy Carriers Spotted means that your carriers were spotted.

Hmm, I dont think so. I'm talking about the radio message saying that enemy carriers have been spotted. And, I also sometimes get the message "main body" I've always assumed that it was referring to enemy ships and not my own.

+1.
How would you get a radio message from the enemy that he has spotted your carriers? Has to be your aircraft sighting his. The total DL on the enemy carriers will determine if the game displays a CVTF icon at their location.

[/quote] is the ending quote. Like ) in math. You need a one without / first.

I think I mostly heard it when my carriers were spotted. I have the vague memory that I heard it in a situation where the AI didn't have carriers in the scenario. My memory isn't infallible though and I might be wrong. [8|]

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (8/31/2018 6:47:54 PM)

Now you guys are just showing off your quoting skills. :)

I do think that it's me spotting Scotts carriers but only as wisps on the horizon since I don't see any TFs with CVs in them. Regardless, The KB is heading back to the barn. More supplies and two heavy artillery battalions are landing at Guam. That's it for reinforcements for the Marshalls now I just want to be sure that they have enough supplies for a very long siege.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (9/3/2018 3:57:55 PM)

There is not a whole lot to report over the past few turns. Scott is lurking at Truk and we are engaged in aerial attrition over that island. Even at extended range his P-38Gs are better than my Tojos but I caught him this turn and downed some B-24s. Pretty soon those islands will be stocked with supply. I suspect that Scott may go around and head down the chain to Babeldaob and try to cut me off through the Philippines.

In the interim, not much is happening in Burma and I"m scrambling around to keep the KB fueled.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (9/6/2018 2:28:31 PM)

Not much new going on. Scott and I have gone through several turns. He is reinforcing Biak and Manakowri. He stopped bombing Saipan and has stepped up his bombing of Burma. I think he's showing off! :) Sucking oil and fuel out of the DEI and sending supplies to Darwin and Guam. It may be a bit tough with Guam since Scott can run DDs in there to intercept resupply convoys. It has 50K tons of supplies so it's not a crisis.

The KB is refitting in Surabaya and will soon be back in action. I may push back on Manakowri to slow down his push in that direction. I think if Scott is not going head into the Mariana's he is forced towards the DEI and the Philippines. More artillery went to Manila and it's approaching fort level 7. I've also put a couple of South Seas garrisons into babeldaob. Not much but it may slow him down a couple of turns or so.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (9/28/2018 7:40:50 PM)

Finally back from a very loooongggg trial in Kansas City. FYI, Kansas City is the home of the national WWI museum and it is very good!!

Back to the game, Scott and I have now made it to mid-August 1943 and things are starting to stir again. The Brits are advancing in Bruma under clouds of allied heavy bombers and an American KB has been spotted near Darwin. I've still got a nice VP lead but he's clearly opting to head towards the DEI rather than up the central pacific, but, Scott is paying a heavy price in aircraft attrition. 11 planes lost this turn is a record. It includes 7 transport aircraft. I wonder if he's taking these losses supplying his spearheads in Burma.

Carrier battle brewing in the DEI! Scott has made a major move on Samaluki with what appears to be the entire US carrier fleet. The KB, with 10 CVs, is sprinting in to launch it's airstrikes. News as it develops . . . .

The first day of the battle is over and it was bloody for the piolts! My poor chaps ran into flak and scads of allied fighters. At least I managed to take down a fair number of American planes with me.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (9/30/2018 9:40:03 PM)

Shipwise it was a better story, at least so far. The soryu took 4 torpedoes (and a fuel explosion) and went down. The Amagi has heavy damage but is not on fire and I have another of the newer CVs that is damaged but can still make speed. The Mushai took a torpedo and that may matter for the next turn. I don't know if the allied report is correct. The Princeton did go down and he may have lost the Long Island II. It took 2 bombs and two torpedo hits and was damaged on on fire. Saratoga II took 3 bombs and 2 torpedos. The Breton was in bad shape with a massive explosion (that is never a good sign) and the Barnes took 2 torpedoes. Other wise, not too much other damage to the allied ships. So far, ship wise, I have the edge.

John B. -> RE: Quisling! An AFB does Japan (No PanzerKat) (9/30/2018 9:44:10 PM)

Here is the plan for tomorrow. A. The KB is shorn of it's planes so there is no sense having it stick around. I'm sending it due west through shallow water in the hopes of avoiding is subs. I'm not sure Scott will chase me with his CVs as that would be heading into a potential surface action. B. The Mushahi, damaged, and DDs will head towards the western landing looking for damaged CVs or tranpsports. C. Tanaka and one of the slower BBs heads to Salmaluki where Scott has his main CV force. If I can get in among them at night I might do some damage. My surface ships will be devoid of air cover so we'll have to hope that the allied air fleet has been reduced enough that I can get in and get away. Lot's of allied surface ships but it's not like the balance is going to swing my way in 1944. [:)]
