Which operating system do you use and why? I'm thinking of switching and so I'm curious.

zakblood -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 8:42:16 AM)

windows 7 64 bit (ultimate)
v6.1, build 7601: service pack 1

...came with my machine(s) and will continue to work until i find something better...
(end of support is January 14, 2020) - so, there's still some time to decide what i'd like to switch to.

OSX [:D]

Windows 7 64 bits in bootcamp for games (and almost nothing else [:@])

wesy -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 3:34:02 PM)

Win 10 64-bit Enterprise Edition.

LarryP -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 5:12:33 PM)

Win 7 64 bit Pro.

IslandInland -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 6:16:28 PM)

Win 10 64 bit on my laptop and gaming machine. Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my two old desktops.

I hate Win 10. The latest forced update means you can longer change text size in menus, title bars and icons. My laptop has a 15.6 inch screen but the native resolution is 1920x1080. Now the text is too small for my eyes.

With Win 10 I feel as if the computer belongs more to Microsoft than it does to me. I'm seriously considering buying a copy of Win 7 and installing it on my laptop.

Aurelian -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 7:08:00 PM)

Win10 64bit Creators Update.

Win10 64bit Creators Update.

yes the latest and so far the best version, can't wait i must admit to see what they're doing next[8D]

i loved xp.

i thought win 7 was great and a worthy upgrade and stable gaming platform...

but 8.1 was better,

but all hail the new king, windows 10 is for me, the best of the lot so far, and i'm older enough to have used them all now, as DOS rocked in it's day also, but times move on, hardware and software wise[X(]

mikkey -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 8:33:51 PM)

I have Win 7 (64bit) in desktop PC, Win 8.1 (64bit) in laptop and Win 8.1 (32bit) in tablet.

stuart3 -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/17/2017 9:00:36 PM)

Win 7 64-bit.

There are several reasons why I resisted Microsoft's attempts to force Win 10 onto my system, but the principal one is that for me, the operating system should be the most stable software package on my PC and I don't want one that changes twice a year, especially without my say so. I am happy with what I have.

Win 10, 64 bit. Fresh install on a computer I built from scratch in May of 2016.

Rising-Sun -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 7:23:16 AM)

Had Win7 64bit for sometime, then over a year ago when Win10 came out I switch to 10-64. I gotta say it is pretty good and imo much better than 7.

cantona2 -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 8:35:54 AM)

Win 10 64 Bit

shunwick -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 10:33:51 AM)

Windows 10 64 bit

Runs everything I throw at it.

Best wishes,
Steve

Qwixt -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 2:27:18 PM)

Win 10 64 bit Pro

Picked pro so that I have more control, and I picked win 10 because I built a new machine about 1.5 years ago, and I always install the latest windows version.

I have mixed feelings about win 10. Sometimes it's good, other times, not so good.

Chickenboy -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 2:28:27 PM)

Win 7 on 5 year old desktop (backup computer mostly for the kids) and Win 10 on my new laptop. I'm satisfied.

m10bob -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 2:48:27 PM)

win 10 64 bit..

Zap -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 3:52:37 PM)

I have Window 10 64 bit. Hey, I'm not an Apple user but no apple aficionados. Used to get one or two using that system. What did everyone here abandon it?

ncc1701e -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 5:39:27 PM)

Same here, Windows 10 64 bit. This is for X-Plane 10 and to load plenty of sceneries in it. Looks like X-Plane 11 is heaviest [:(]

76mm -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 7:04:21 PM)

I've got about five computers in total between work and home; four of the five on Win10 64, one desktop on Win7. Win10 is much better IMHO, I think you'd have to be kind of nutty to go out of your way to get a Win7 machine.

cpdeyoung -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/18/2017 7:47:26 PM)

Windows 10, since pre-launch. I have never had any problem, not with gaming, not with anything. Multiple machines.

Chuck

dougo33 -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/19/2017 1:15:23 AM)

I have 4 laptops (my wife says I cannot bear to part with any lol) and a desktop - all running Windows 10 Home edition. I have had it since Win 10 came out and have not had many issues running Matrix (or other) games that are not too old. I would recommend Win10 since Windows 7 is end of life for support and updates.

demyansk -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/19/2017 9:10:58 AM)

Windows 10, 64 bit

berto -> RE: Which operating system do you guys use? (5/19/2017 12:07:45 PM)

For my development work and general computing, I use Windows 10, Windows 7, SUSE Linux, and Ubuntu Linux on a daily basis. (On Windows, I am a heavy Cygwin user.) For actual game play, it's typically Windows 7 or Ubuntu Linux (running the games on Linux Wine).
