Welcome :)
The manual is outdated here as the feature was introduced in later version. Its called combat events afaik.
C=counterattack in case of a failed attack
W=(fighting) withdrawal

I dont know the details, you are best of to open the change log, type "combat events", "counterattack" and "(fighting) withdrawal" into the pdf readers search bar and click through the results.
