Open the changelog and type "blizzard" into the search bar and click through the results. The midl blizzard can be found in 1.07.11. Hope this helps.

I think you only get the Rumanian "FBD" if you start the game in 1.11beta. If you started the game in a previous version you do not get the new units even if you upgrade the program. However I am only tentatively sure on that.




Will let you know when I get the turn back.


No Rum FDB and 1st Cav is also unaffected.


Started my turn 1 (against MarauderPL!) on version1.11 and they are all there on turn 1. So scenario changes are only if you start in that version. If you just change the program the old scenario data is kept for ongoing games.

TURN4 NORTH

To my surprise and regret he replaces his line with Leningrad PM divisions and pulls back his best troops. It seems he's mostly worried about a right hook and I can fairly easily exploit.
I'm also able to displace 3 airbases which does much to increase his Air losses.

TURN4 CENTRE

Same situation in the Centre. He pulls back his best troops and puts in low quality inf. as speed bumb. Not enough to warrant surrounding.
I move the 2PzG Corps to combine with the mass of 9th Army and 3rd PzG and hide them in the woods.

In the North and Centre the air space is more and more contested. Cudos to PH for using his air force to the max.

TURN4 SOUTH1

I exploit and bring the PzC from 2nd PzG in a nice supply situation with refit on. they had a rough time and need some rest.
I'm looking for a weak spot on the Dnepr and need the infantry to catch up. The Lvov pocket is still being reduced and I finally take measures to limit his "breakthrough" into Hungary.

A PzC from 1st PzG gets a HQ build-up with the objective to push through, either of the Dnepr or to D & Z-town.
Odessa is strongly defended. The small pocket around Vinnitsa is clean out.

The Fins do pretty well pocketing 4 divs and 2 sec Ants.
I have not attacked that 3 hex wall in the upper North.
South of Leningrad is where things are moving...

TURN5 NORTH2
With the help of the outstanding infantry of I & II Corps I push through and find a weak spot and exploit. Leningrad is cut of from the RR but most of the industry is already gone.
Leningrad is doomed and with a good sized amount of units to the West, it is also a big pocket in the making.
I do a HQ-build up with Reinhardt's Corps but only for 2 divisions. I have a hunch I'll need the mobility.

Again he puts up a screen on the land bridge which I push away. Smolensk falls. He abandons the Dnepr. His strongest units are to the North of Smolensk and perhaps a bit out of place.
The Belji Axis seems lightly defended. Hmmm... 2 Corps get an HQ Build up.
Most of the infantry has caught up.

Soviet "single" line large defense stack isnt going to work against a human player. Might as well had no defense at all. Instead maybe the Soviets should have set up a lemonade stands every hex to at least make the Panzers stop for refreshments. Heck a single beer stand in the first hex and they would have stopped for the week ;-) You know those Germans love their BEER!!!!!

In the south you should have no problem what-so-ever crossing the river. I see many weak spots.

The previously Build up PzC strikes East towards D & Z-town but I get side tracked and form a clumsy pocket. Bad play on my end as, obviously, the pocket will be broken.
The Rumanians take a go at Odessa but fail miserably.

you're right though, his line lacks depth but that's probably more to do with lack of units than intentional.

I can say unequivocally looking at your screenshots from turn two up that is the case with no defense in depth. I also know from playing him. Great guy but he really needs to start getting a defense in depth.

Hmmmmmm, thats a lot of fighters you lost all from Airfield bombing. What I do when playing the Germans is send all my AA back turn 1 to OKH to be sent out to my airbase HQ's. I then stack two airbases and an HQ which I stuff with flak (I have my own formula per Airbase HQ). So all my Airbases have an HQ under it with a crap load of AA. Then put those next to each other in their theater of operation. You then have a ton of flak that can activate against his bombers from each of the HQ's(plus the Airbases intrinsic AA) along with any fighter cap. I know against one poor soul I shot down like 140 of his fighters & bombers from my fighters and flak from one enemy bombing run. I will see if I can find the snapshot & if I do I will post it.

True, and it's going to get worse. I came to the same conclusion as you are suggesting. It took me longer than it should have but I thought airbase bombing was nerved!! NOT![8|]
