If a fort is not isolated is it better to surround it first and take it the next turn.

basically is a fort surrender like an isolated unit surrendering or like an unisolated unit routing?

Don't think it will be worth your trouble. They easily surrender and most of the troops be captured, isolated or not.

it took me a long time to learn that Soviet Fortified zones are not defensive strong points, just places to enhances the fortification construction rate or to maintain fort levels when the front starts to move west in the first winter. [the fort level will be wanted when the tide goes back east.] Forts should be disbanded anytime the enemy pushed close by.

I think the question is if you are indifferent between making a fort surrender this turn unisolated or next turn isolated which is better? Do the troops return to the Soviet pool if they surrender when not isolated?

They may be small numbers - but big numbers are made by adding up lots of small numbers.

Yes the question is if it is no trouble to me either way am I better off taking a fort when it is isolated rather than in supply. If it is the same fine, but there are times when I can leave a fort to be taken for a later turn and would prefer to do so if fewer men return to the Soviet pool. But I cannot work out whether that is the case?
