Has anyone bought or played this AGEOD game, and if so, could you recommend it?

I have not but here is a good review...

Have it and like it. Low unit density and supply is vital to manage correctly, send your supply wagons back to
depots to refill when they get depleted. Moving or seige during winter will savage your forces so unless its
absolutely necessary try to avoid it. Use your RGD (two sequential cards) to neutralize Bethlen Gabor in the campaign (if you play as
Catholics) unless you enjoy Hungarian cavalry causing you pain. Realize that the Spanish units & leader will leave
your forces (element by element) as they are needed elsewhere so buying replacements for Spain is not a good idea.

If you like other AGEOD games, or have an interest in the period, this is a winner. Possibly my favourite title of theirs, even through I am a hopeless player thus far. [&:]

I've got the game but can't say I've played it extensively.

It's focus is grand strategic not tactical so whilst you can set the battles up the computer fights them for you. If you prefer tactical you may be better off with Pike and Shot.

However it is a good strategic game in the Aegod mode so as someone else in the forum put it "the game has a lot of detail going on under the hood" and if you don't pay attention to that it can cause you some grief.

On the plus side the game is more accessible as the developers have put together a more coherent manual and tutorial than earlier Aegod efforts.

I had the very first AGEOD title BoA and still have Wars in America. Supply and seasons were the two over-riding concerns and the manuals were either written or rewritten in better English. But I had problems with their WW I in-game messages.

In any event, thanks to you and everyone else who posted here.

30YW is very different from other Ageod's titles. Mostly because low unit density and supply problems everywhere. Players also mostly don't have enough money to buy new troops. I suppose it quite well reflects real dilemmas of 30YW, but if you enjoyed their flag titles (about Secession War in America or Napoleon's Wars in Europe), this one is really something different. Worth trying though.
