I have now discovered this is the second game using this system. First game is 1775 Rebellion, by the same publisher. It can be found on Steam. The reviews are mixed but from what I have seen/heard, it does look very interesting.

Hi Alan!

It is not a bad game, especially if you get burned out on Ageod's complexity. I am not a fan of Hexwar, but they did patch this a couple of times. In my mind, $20 would be the perfect price for this game. It is too simple to give a real historical feel, but the AI on normal has given me (a weaker player) a good challenge.

Not sure the 1812 invasion of Canada would be as exciting though.

Hexwar is a company that I just want to grab by the shoulders and shake some sense into at times.

With the general decline of Slitherine in the IOS strategy / wargame space, they have a real chance to become the definitive industry leader in that market.

Quality issues and lack of innovation between releases have historically plagued them however.

On the bright side, (like 1775) Command and Colours The Great War has received multiple patches making it a really fun game now IMO.

I also recently asked them for a fix to their Ancient Battles Rome game and they cranked it out rather quickly.

So - I will remain cautiously optimistic about their upcoming work - including 1812 ...

Thanks for your feedback guys. I am unfamiliar with their games at present.
