Dear mom,I,m here on an island called Guadalcanal fighting againstthe japs.I,ve been involved in four combat actions and am currently in to the fifth , trying to hold the airfield again. These japs are tough cookies and pretty sneaky to.They leave many snipers and fortified pos. in your path of advance when they are on the defensive and send massed inf. and heavy arty against ypu when they attack.
My troops are holding but we take heavy casualties. So far the General has said we are winning the campaign but not by much.
Gotta go the japs are hitting the south perimeter again , will write soon.
