Lord_Calidor -> Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 8:21:26 AM)

(I know this has been written a lot of times, but I must be useless in searching the forum [8|] I blame the age)

Is there a supply requirements for the base where I'm trying to resize airgroups with ships (those that are NOT native to that ship)?
Scenario 2, I'm trying to resize Ominato Ku S-1 (A5M4) to 30 with Zuiho, in Hiroshima/Kure, which has a size 10 airbase and due to some early game factory resizing and repairing, only 5.600 supplies. However, base's required supply is 2.400 so 2x supplies requirement is met. But still resizing is a no go. Is there a minimum supplies requirement, just as the factory repair, eg. 10k or so?

adarbrauner -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 8:28:21 AM)

Could it be that the Ominato group in question is already marked for a resizing thus preventing being resized by you aboard carrier?

GetAssista -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 8:49:41 AM)

Did you resize other groups this turn on this ship? Resizing can behave dodgy when done for multiple groups the same turn. Or with multiple groups on the ship. Do you disband the ship with group in port for resizing?

Lord_Calidor -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:13:07 AM)

@adarbrauner: It doesn't mention any dates or pre-set sizes. It's resize clicky-thingy switches from no resize -> resize to fit ship -> resize to custom size (I wrote 30, to fit Zuiho's capacity which is also 30, although I've found I can resize up to 20% more than the ship cap).

@GetAssista: yeah, I've tried others too. I succesfully resized 3-4 groups the previous few turns, however it's Turn 5 now and I'm trying with 3 different groups of different planes - I transfer one, try to resize, fail, reload the game, try the other ones.

I've also noticed that CS Chiyoda which is also parked at Hiroshima, can't resize too. Although she did, the previous turns.

So I've snooped around in a tracker, trying to find the culprit and all I can see is that supply decreased from 100+ k to 5000-ish. There is enough aviation support, although I don't think that's important.

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:42:20 AM)

The carriers have their own aviation support built in. The port is irrelevant.

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:43:54 AM)

Ominato Ku S-1 should resize. Do you happen to have replacements on for that unit? If so turn it off.

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:45:41 AM)

You do only have the one air unit aboard, right?

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:49:54 AM)

Just a stab in the dark, did you change commanders on those ships?

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:58:03 AM)

If you could post the following two screens so we have something to look at. In this example the squadron just completed resize to 24.

geofflambert -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:59:41 AM)

Pay no attention to the "Resize to 24", I wasn't paying close attention and gave them the order to resize again. [8|]

Lord_Calidor -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 11:14:40 AM)

Thnx for the effort, Mr.Gorn.
Replacements and upgrades for air unit are off, no sub units or detachments elsewhere.
It's the only unit onboard, and I'm not sure about captain of the ship... I could've replaced him, or not. Didn't know it's important for resizing [&:]

I'll post some screenies as soon as I get home from work.

ny59giants -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 1:12:59 PM)

Did you form an Air TF and then disband it?. On any carrier this needs to happen before the resizing can occur if the player is doing the re-sizing.

Lord_Calidor -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 4:31:37 PM)

Yeah, I'm creating Air Combat TF, set to resize, then disband. Nothing happens.
Here are TF, Zuiho and said air group.

And here's Hiroshima. Notice the lack of supply, but also less than half supply requirement.

BBfanboy -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 9:30:47 PM)

Supply may be an issue (but I think it should only affect drawing extra aircraft after the resize).
Note that after you use the text at the top to change the resize to 30, you have to leave the ship alone for the entire next turn before the resize takes effect. You will get a message saying the group has resized.

Of course it is the TOE that resizes and you still have to keep the squadron in valid conditions for replenishment of aircraft to the new level. In my game I resized Hermes air group in a large base with lots of supply (over 500K) but it still took nearly a week for the replenishment Swordfish aircraft to arrive at the squadron.

Lokasenna -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/4/2017 11:28:58 PM)

Try disbanding the ship into port.

Amoral -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/5/2017 3:33:15 AM)

The claudes won't resize because groups won't resize on the turn they transfer on to a ship. You will be able to resize them tomorrow.

False. I have been able to resize air groups that just moved on to a ship.

The fundamental technique for resizing air groups is
• Form AV, CS, CV, CVL or CVE (ship capable of operating the aircraft) into a TF
• Click on air group
• Click on resize text (may require clicking 3 times)
• Enter new group size
• Disband TF OR save and reload game

That last step, Disband TF or Save and reload game will make the size change as long as the additional requirements set forth in the manual are met:

quote:

Original: Game Manual, Section 7.3 AIR GROUP RESIZING

Some groups can be resized during the game.

The resize takes affect if the group’s ‘Resize Allowed’ toggle is ‘On’ and the group is located in
a base with a size 1+ airfield and the base’s supply is at least twice it’s requirements
.

The size and date that the resize will occur is shown on the group screen.

A message is recorded in the Operations Report when a resize takes effect.

Since supply is mentioned specifically in the manual, I'd blame supply. However, it appears that the OP has enough supply (2x required)... Did the OP disband the TF or save and reload the turn?

InfiniteMonkey -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/5/2017 8:04:28 AM)

Another possibility occurred to me... Check for fragments of the air group left at an airbase or on another ship. I'm not sure you even get the resize option in that case, but I remember having trouble until I disbanded the fragments into the parent.

Lord_Calidor -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/5/2017 8:36:39 AM)

Yeah, I've tried disbanding, that's the main method I use for resizing. Usually it works right away... usually. But not this time.
I've run the next turn, with supply requirement manually increased to 7k+, Hiroshima got supplied aplenty (some 50k), and resizing went flawless, as usual. So... conclusion is, base has to have supply at least twice it's requirements, but also there's a minimum amount, I guess 10k.
Thanks everyone for suggestions and help.

Trugrit -> RE: Airgroups resizing requirements (7/5/2017 10:27:06 AM)

Read this post. Especially post number 2 and 19.
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3260001&mpage=1&key=

Make sure you have the current game update.
I always use the Beta.

Try this:
Set the group to not resize and move it to the base then move it back to the ship.
That may reset the resize flag.
