Hello all [:)]

Thoroughly enjoying SC3.

I've looked at the manual (finally) and can't find any mention of the First Winter apart from the Strategy Notes.

Is there a rule somewhere?

Thanks

David

Page 160.

All units could suffer the loss of up to 2 strength
points, in addition to significant morale losses, and
only Finnish units are exempt.

Thanks for that, I was hoping for something more specific though. Possible dates, geographical area and how the strength point calculation is made.

Perhaps it's decided that although we know it's coming we shouldn't know too much [:)]

I delayed war with the Soviets into 1942. So my first winter came in Dec-Jan 1943. I counted off about forty attacks. I don't know if that's a fixed number, or it was related to the fact that I had 80 units in Russia. So maybe each unit has a 50-50 chance of getting attacked.

And it appears to be an attack. A few units, garrisons, lost 2 SP. Most that took a hit lost 1.

I'm playing a new game and I just had my first winter turn in 1941, but nothing happened. I expect I'll catch it next turn.

You can always check the scripts, and the relevant one can be found in the STRENGTH script file for the campaign.

There is some descriptive text at the top of the file that will help to understand the contents.
