zakblood -> windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (7/27/2017 6:48:47 PM)

Operating System: Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834)

eg the Creators Update build, this is the clean ISO install, so a new operating system, not a upgraded version, which most may use etc

can do full screen or windowed on a maximum size of my default is 1920x1080, not tried or tested any larger or bigger so no idea either if bigger would work or not, but guess any size would in a window [:D]

works right out of the box with settings shown

Thanks for the nice guide. However...
I did everything as suggested by you, installed WaR from scratch, but when I enter step #9, the option box for "windowed mode" in Close Combat Options is simply missing ! This really puzzles me [&:]
Of course, the WaR then runs, but the colors are totally screwed up, which of course unplayable.
How come the option "windowed mode" is completely absent from the menu ?

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/1/2018 5:56:37 PM)

old installer maybe?

as look at the dates and version numbers on mine, and if they don't match yours, you will need to update to the latest version before following number 9 etc

piterdevries,

If you do not have the Windowed Mode option then you're running an old version of WaR. Please download the latest update and it should be present.

I hoped this guide and its wonderful set of images would save the day, but no! I am running Windows 10. 64 on an Alienware 17inch screen. Get the game but it is tiny and changing resolutions does nothing. How can you change the size? I find it odd as ‘Cross of Iron’ works fine, which I presume is older, and I had no issues whatsoever. I have a second laptop running Windows 7 Pro and will see what happens on that but a little miffed that this machine doesn’t want to play ball! It would help a lot though if Matrix actually put up the ‘latest’ version to download as I obviously tried to install the earlier .14 and, by doing so, may have put in some little Gremlin...

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (1/4/2019 5:18:53 PM)

there are some tips and tricks that windows 10 can use to make it and most older games work in windows 10, with files that come with it, but not installed by default, some help one game or another, so doing them all harms none,

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (1/4/2019 5:19:56 PM)

for size issues, what size is it running by default? as report tells all, or just type the default

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then permitted to attach to the forum.

Many thanks. Getting late in my part of the world so not really in the mood to deal with Microsoft! Will bumble around tomorrow with a fresher head. Again thanks.

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (5/10/2020 9:55:52 AM)

works with no issues on steam,.

tried and tested as per normal for you all

these setting worked best for me, for everyone else, it's trial and error and a game restart once altered, doesn't take 2 sec's tbh, so not an issue and a pleasure to play as always

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (5/10/2020 9:56:26 AM)

Tejszd -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (5/10/2020 8:13:19 PM)

Not sure if Use DPI and the Scale Front and Scale UI can or should be used together???

DPI is a Windows user setting that applies a percentage to all apps that allow DPI scaling and to all parts of the app (graphics, text, etc.)

CC Scale Front (menu screens) applies 1.5x

CC Scale UI (in battle) applies 2.0x to the UI elements only. So the explosions, map, men, smoke, vehicles, etc. are all not changed.

Curly1 -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/24/2021 9:36:46 PM)

I updated the January 2021 update and the classic version now works however when I go to launch Watch am Rhien I get the message.

not enough entries in FP data for class 0, date 0 strength 0

Have you seen this before?

Running current version of W10 I haven't installed CC last stand or longest day assuming I will get the same problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/25/2021 5:35:01 AM)

np sorry i haven't seen that error, that one seems like a data entry error tbh

SteveMcClaire -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/25/2021 4:15:23 PM)

Hi Curly1 -- that error indicates there is a problem with the game data files. Usually this only happens if you have installed a mod or have been modifying the data files yourself. This error shouldn't have anything to do with Windows 10.

I assume you're using the download version of WaR and not the Steam version? Can you try a clean install of the game and see if you still get the error?

Curly1 -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/25/2021 4:23:57 PM)

I am using the DVD's to install.

And I have not installed any mods or modified data.

SteveMcClaire -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/26/2021 3:52:27 PM)

That's odd. I have just re-installed a new copy of Wacht am Rhein and then downloaded the latest update here:

https://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/CloseCombatWachtAmRhein/CC-WachtamRhein-UpdateComp-v4.50.32.01.zip

After this the game runs both standard and classic without an error.

Are you getting that error while running the new version of the game or the classic version?

Curly1 -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing 2 (2/26/2021 4:33:21 PM)

I just did an uninstall and reinstall with the dvd and updated the patch using your link and get the same error.

I did notice the patch zip was a a little larger than the original one I downloaded from the matrix site.
