Acehole -> Big (!) size graphics ... (8/4/2017 9:10:09 PM)

As i reinstall "Gateway to caen" on my new pc , i am surprised by the size of the graphics ! with the same screen resolution in options for all my Cc's games , this one (maps,buildings,tanks..) are very big comparing with others CC ...i don't remember this visual on my previous pc .Is like a zoom was applied to the screen ,it's normal for you ? side effect with Windows 10 ? the game became very cumbersome to play ! thanks for tips or advice...

The graphics system was changed in Panthers in the Fog (the release prior to Gateway to Caen) to a 32-bit color and a higher pixel/meter resolution, to take advantage of modern display resolutions. If things are looking too large / the area of the map you see on the screen too small, try increasing the game resolution to a higher level.

Acehole -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/11/2017 12:08:52 PM)

Thanks a lot to take time for answer ! i noticed the same graphics in "panthers in the fog" as i reinstall also but i am already in the higher resolution for my system (1920x1080) ! so i debut a new campaign and i hope i adapt to those new graphics ! curioulsly , as i forgot to mention in my post , i notice no change of size (only details) when i change the résolution...

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/11/2017 5:04:49 PM)

In windowed mode (the default) the resolution of your display doesn't change (that is set by adjusting your Windows desktop resolution) only the size of the game window. So the graphics won't get smaller in windowed mode, but the size of the window will get larger (allowing you to see all of the battlefield.) I assume your Windows desktop resolution is already at the maximum, but if not you could try changing that to see if you can see more of the battle area that way.

Acehole, what's your DPI settings used in windows 10?

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

will show you and post it if you wish or just part of it

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/12/2017 5:03:28 AM)

here's my report as reference

Operating System: Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834)

User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 144 DPI (150 percent)

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

Display Memory: 12230 MB
Dedicated Memory: 4062 MB
Shared Memory: 8168 MB
Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor
Monitor Model: TOSHIBA-TV
Monitor Id: TSB0108
Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.000Hz)
Output Type: HDMI

default windows DPI is 96, mine and maybe even yours in higher, giving a larger and imo a better display when using the size of the screen / display that we use, windows 10 just enhances it and again imo makes it look better, not worse for the size, but yes it does look rather zoomed in that it did or does on the older games, but Gateway to Caen is same for me as i can still remember it from when i was on the beta on windows 8.1 mind you...

looking at some steam screenshots, some version do look smaller than others

http://steamcommunity.com/app/368220/screenshots/

with some having less of a zoomed in look and more of the surroundings in the screenshot than others, so it does seem to me the area of focus is more zoomed in windows 10 maybe, will play around with some settings and see if this can be altered to give it more of a less zoomed in look in windows 10 and get back to you on my results

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/12/2017 5:24:31 AM)

settings altered in windows 10 game install folder

[image]local://upfiles/43185/58F518CB01D148D48E0D8AFDD229F53D.jpg[/image]

this setting i found worked best, if using the scaling by system instead of application only if i was using full screen in game as if using windowed as shown in the screen shot, it made it too small for me, so changed it as shown to run in windows mode (full screen with border) in game, and altered shortcut to override high DPI by app only, nothing else needs altering as i've tested them all.

alter it and see if that's any better for you, or post your DxReport and i'll go from there with more advice if needed

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/12/2017 6:10:35 AM)

for me i can make the tanks around 10 to 15% smaller using the settings above, can make them smaller still if required, to around 20%, but as it also effects the txt / fonts used, the txt can be harder to see on some DPI and screen sizes, so for me on 1920x1080 anyway, the best regarding map size and tank size and txt being more comfortable to read, the settings used above for me anyway is more correct and more also to the default (how it was in windows 7 and 8) imo

but if anyone gives me a DPI or screen size, i can test some settings and give a opinion on what looks and works best for those settings.

settings of higher DPI and screen sizes of 3440x1440 to 3840x2160

https://www.howtogeek.com/175664/how-to-make-the-windows-desktop-work-well-on-high-dpi-displays-and-fix-blurry-fonts/

windows 10 has some cool features that while were in most windows previous version, most of the time weren't used or hidden from most, or hidden deep and never seen.

Thanks for the helpful info, Zakblood!

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/14/2017 7:37:43 PM)

np as always, win 10 is my thing[&o]

Acehole -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/15/2017 3:30:05 PM)

Thanks again for time ! i use the maximum windows resolution at 1920x1080 and test your advice in windowed and full screen mode without changes ....By the way , only the menus seems a bit reduced in size but not the tanks and buildings ...so ,i attach the dxdiag.txt and hope you can help ! Sincerely

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/15/2017 5:17:13 PM)

your running the standard and default size DPI, which is 96 DPI

you shouldn't have to alter the box as shown [] override high DPI as yours in default

so run a game with it not ticked, then again with it ticked and see if it alters it for you and see which one you like best

same as the box for [] disable full screen optimization etc

run once with it ticked and once without, as that means 4 boxes, on and off, you may have a few combo's to try before you get one you like, as maybe you like one on and one off, as that's pc specific etc

good luck and you can always drops some screens shot on the outcomes to see so others can get the same help

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/15/2017 5:25:11 PM)

default

1920x1080 at 144 DPI (150 percent)

any game too small, then let windows make it bigger smaller as shown above

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/15/2017 5:50:55 PM)

then zoom on, on where you mouse pointer is

[image]local://upfiles/43185/97F96CDD979A4DE68AA849D6665CAF60.jpg[/image]

game works perfectly normally with this zoomed in mode and with a use of the widows key, can be helpful to have or take a close up look at well anything and you can order or do anything in this mode as well, so windows key + (-) to make smaller and windows key + (+) to make larger eg zoom in

enjoy

Acehole -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/17/2017 5:31:39 PM)

So, i follow your advises and i try the four ways in the properties of the .exe , i have a little reduction of graphics size with the "ticked" boxes but far from yours screenshots ! perhaps a little ten percent ? again strange , this result work with any box ticked, both two or just one ... i have also the same gaming setup and options as you...For short ; my actual graphic card (Radeon HD7700) is the only thing i have not already changed in my new pc so i do that after my holidays, in september and i see what it's change for this particular problem of CCE.I desinstall also drivers of my actual card and reinstall only by windows (not by the AMD site) and reinstall also
Panthers in the fog and Gateway to caen : fine for the first ,graphics are normals but no change for the second ,my actual concern. So , when i change my card , i go back to this post for the result of this change .Thanks again for time ,sincerely.G.Jourdan.

zakblood -> RE: Big (!) size graphics ... (8/17/2017 5:36:33 PM)

can't see it being the card either, maybe drivers, but wouldn't have thought so, as what you do in properties overrides it anyway [:(]
