Nemesis30 -> North Korea Current Situation (8/12/2017 6:22:24 PM)

Are there any Scenarios or Mods covering the current situation with North Korea? Something like an updated Live - Korean Missile Crisis?

Thanks

I have a Community scenario coming. Working on my alpha testing double checking. Please check the Scenario and Mod forum next week. I understand your interest. Events are flying so fast it has been hard to keep up.

Take the Korean Missile Crisis scenario and take out the Carrier group (It's pierside right now) and the Russians (unlikely to intervene).

A scenario detailing the early war SCUD / ICBM hunt, in a fast breaking crisis, would be quite useful to understand the dynamics of a North Korean missile strike.

That wouldn't be early war. Any air campaign is going to begin with taking out their IADS. Until they've knocked that down to an acceptable level, nobody is hunting for anything as difficult to find as SSM TELs.

We have all read about North Korea's potential apocalyptic artillery strike on the South. I think it would be silly to try to simulate that on the ground unit-by-unit but not silly to do so via random events that present the player with a decision tree where risk and rewards are incrementally elevated. So without having individual North Korean artillery to knock out, the US side "suppresses" the enemy arty by being in a specific area with a certain strike package. So instead of NK gaining 100 points an hour as they hit Seoul they only gain 10, for example. Abstracted artillery and counter strikes within an operation context.

That's an interesting idea Kevin.

The reason I didn't include the A-10s or MLRS in KMC was I assumed they would be involved in a counter battery campaign to cover Seoul. You may be able to achieve better results by using a combination of Special actions and your idea of point reduction.

i.e. Special action - Commit 12x A-10 to counter artillery missions and gain XX points and Lua them away. You could have several of these so the player has some real choice in his strike packages. If he really wants to keep the A-10's he could commit say 16x F-16 or 50x TLAMs for the same effect (maybe not the TLAMS)
