TXTBOOK -> Damage Model for Large Aircraft (9/9/2017 3:39:21 AM)

Playing Hail Mary (CoW) currently. Just fired 4 AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 at roughly half range distance into a Y-9JB Cub [High New 8]. Three of them "hit", 1 missed. The Cub is now flying away from me at 410kts at 34,000 feet.

How is this possible?

7:58:58 AM - 7:58:58 AM - Weapon: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8019 is attacking MPA #1 (Y-9JB Cub [High New 8]) with a base PH of 95%. PH adjusted for distance: 89%. PH adjusted for actual target speed (254 kts): 88.6%. MPA #1 has nominal agility: 1, adjusted for altitude: 0.2. Agility adjusted for proficiency (Veteran): 0.2. Aircraft has a weight fraction of 0.2 - Agility adjusted to 0.18. Agility adjusted for rear-oblique impact effect: 0.1. Final agility modifier: -1%. Final PH: 88%. Result: 51 - HIT
7:58:58 AM - 7:58:58 AM - Defensive jammer (Generic DECM [Advanced]; Tech: Early 1990s) on MPA #1 is attempting to spoof sensor: Active Radar Seeker(Tech: Early 2010s)(Of: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8019). Final probability: 5%. Result: 75 - FAILURE

8:01:02 AM - 8:01:02 AM - All weapon seekers were spoofed - weapon missed target
8:01:02 AM - 8:01:02 AM - Defensive jammer (Generic DECM [Advanced]; Tech: Early 1990s) on MPA #1 is attempting to spoof sensor: Active Radar Seeker(Tech: Early 2010s)(Of: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8022). Final probability: 5%. Result: 4 - SUCCESS

8:02:13 AM - 8:02:13 AM - Weapon: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8023 is attacking MPA #1 (Y-9JB Cub [High New 8]) with a base PH of 95%. PH adjusted for actual target speed (397 kts): 95%. MPA #1 has nominal agility: 1, adjusted for altitude: 0.2. Agility adjusted for proficiency (Veteran): 0.2. Aircraft has a weight fraction of 0.19 - Agility adjusted to 0.18. Aircraft has 15.1% fuselage/structural damage - Agility adjusted to 0.15. High-deflection impact (no effect on agility). Final agility modifier: -2%. Final PH: 93%. Result: 75 - HIT
8:02:13 AM - 8:02:13 AM - Defensive jammer (Generic DECM [Advanced]; Tech: Early 1990s) on MPA #1 is attempting to spoof sensor: Active Radar Seeker(Tech: Early 2010s)(Of: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8023). Final probability: 5%. Result: 89 - FAILURE

8:03:29 AM - 8:03:29 AM - Weapon: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8024 is attacking MPA #1 (Y-9JB Cub [High New 8]) with a base PH of 95%. PH adjusted for actual target speed (396 kts): 95%. MPA #1 has nominal agility: 1, adjusted for altitude: 0.2. Agility adjusted for proficiency (Veteran): 0.2. Aircraft has a weight fraction of 0.19 - Agility adjusted to 0.18. Aircraft has 28.4% fuselage/structural damage - Agility adjusted to 0.13. Agility adjusted for rear-oblique impact effect: 0.1. Final agility modifier: -1%. Final PH: 94%. Result: 8 - HIT
8:03:29 AM - 8:03:29 AM - Defensive jammer (Generic DECM [Advanced]; Tech: Early 1990s) on MPA #1 is attempting to spoof sensor: Active Radar Seeker(Tech: Early 2010s)(Of: AIM-120D AMRAAM P3I.4 #8024). Final probability: 5%. Result: 85 - FAILURE

So as of the final missile (not sure if this before or after missile #8024 hit), the aircraft has 28.4% fuselage/structural damage (after 2-3 hits).

Does this seem correct? I would expect it could take maybe 2 missiles max. Certainly not 3 and maintain FL340 at 410kts.

See the discussion here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4308340

We are currently working on a number of tweaks for damage to large aircraft.

In the meantime, if it really bothers you, turn the "aircraft damage" feature off.

Thanks.
