I'm trying to MOD in Thai forces, and decided to check what will happen, when I'll use enemy aircrafts for their units. Well, it seems somehow everything works fine. It is possible to move them, and issue orders. They are not listed as available for production, and have no pools (although I wonder what will happen, when I'll release them into pools). Allied side doesn't seem to be affected in any way by such experiment.

Does anyone tried it already? I was wondering about AA guns, and some tanks, because if I'll add them as Japanese devices, they will be available for production.

Why not just copy the device and have a separate "Hawk 75M (captured)" airframe in IJAF. This way you'll avoid all potential bugs

Well, I could do that, but it requires 5 new planes only used by Thai (with whooping 6 frames of B-10). Although I could then define Japanese bombload for them.

Plus they will be available for Japanese production (although it seems Thailand had substantial native aircraft production, where in-game there is no factory on their territory). So probably some new engine, as generic one can potentially create another bug in production.

You can circumvent production availability with shifting R&D availability date far into the future, I guess. Either for airframe or for engine.

Just in case you don't know - Skyland's "War Option 1941" contains the Thai Air Force and the Thai Navy.

Yeah, but I think it is pre war with French, and quite large force (although trick with engines looks interesting). I recall, that el Cid also mentioned, he incorporated Thai forces. Their Navy is somehow complicated, with some kind of Monitor, and I am not sure it was ever used operationally during war. What I found is Thai land forces lack quite a lots of armored vehicles, and their tanks seems to be far too big.

What I wanted actually add, are those few coastal gunships in Hong Kong, but the right way will be to make them same as PT boats, so they would not sail away, and one of those ships is huge (and was available to disassembly, and oversea transport as cargo). So that eventually would allow Allied Player to just disband it, and put somewhere in Java.

Late to your post with some trivia.
The Japanese had a couple of squadrons of captured planes, and you can find pics of them in Bing or google search.
P40e's and some B 17's were captured and re-marked with meatballs, but their were several other types.
The Chinese did this as well.
