Yeremenko -> France surrendered, no Vichy => no Algiers (9/26/2017 11:14:03 AM)

Hi,

Seen a few days ago on both sides of a mirror PBEM game :
- France surrendered because national morale reached 0 but Paris was NOT taken
- Axis gave a NO response to the ask for Vichy event
=> No troops were raised in Algiers, no french troops remain on the map and Algiers + entire France + North Africa + Syria was Axis [&:]

Is this a bug or a feature ? In the last case it's a great jackpot win for Axis !

Hi Yeremenko

If Germany was definitely given the DE to form Vichy and it said no then I'm afraid I can see no reason why this should not have worked as expected, i.e. new units formed in Algiers. It's not something I recall having changed for a patch either, unlike the other issue you reported, so I'm scratching my head because the scripts look as though they should fire, and always have to my knowledge.

Hi Bill,

It looks like because Paris was not taken, the "default surrender" condition fired first giving entire France + North Africa to Axis (the Vichy script fires only if Paris is Axis).
After that the Vichy script fired, but as entire France + North Africa is now Axis, it was not able to give back Algiers to France ...
What do you think about this theory ?

I am in the mirror match with Yeremenko and I can confirm that in both cases (his Axis and mine) we were able to conquer all of France without actually taking Algiers. I don't know what Yeremenko saw, but I knew I had reduced France's morale to zero, then got the option to go for Vichy or not. I said no to Vichy (I had troops near Algiers and thought it was a worthwhile gamble). Then France surrendered, including North Africa and Syria. Oddly, the British Corps that Y. had stationed in Algiers stayed put until he Transported it out. Something like this had happened before once or twice in earlier games.

This has been happening in my solo hotseat games as well.

Thanks. I've got a theory that I'll discuss with Hubert. [:)]

I'm sure now that in the "normal" case Vichy dialog occurs first and after that the "France surrendered" event was fired,
but in the weird case the "France surrendered" event was fired first and after that the Vichy dialog was prompted for.

Thanks everyone, we believe that we have found the issue now, as it would only have been an issue if Paris was still Allied when France surrendered - a rare event, but obviously possible!

Is this something that will be fixed in the next release?

Yes

Thanks!
