Never played PBEM as axis so a noob question I ve here...
After German declaration of the war, do all soviet units suffer from morale/readiness/supply loss or only spawned ones?
And what are the exact effects on mor/rdy/sup?
Tnx in advance

Also, how long does it take for them to recover back to normal morale levels and do units placed in the next turn start off with normal morale (for a new unit)?

Hi

Only the spawned units arrive at zero supply with its consequent low morale and readiness.

If they survive the first round then their morale and readiness will, if they are at good supply and strength, recover to normal within a few turns.

Any new units deployed in the next turn follow normal rules.

For more details on the formula and factors behind morale and readiness please refer to section 7.29. Morale and Readiness in the Manual

BTW I still find it quite strange that the Soviets can have other units placed near the areas where the spawned units arrive which seem to suffer no adverse affects to morale and readiness whatsoever on the initial turns of Barbarossa (unlike in some other WW2 grand strategy games that I've played), this does seem a bit odd and makes it quite difficult to recreate the extent of the historical initial Axis advance into Russia, if the Soviet player takes advantage of this.

The only thing here is that any penalty that would affect Red Army units already deployed along the frontier, would also hit those spawned units, so the latter would be doubly affected.

My own house rule to simulate the shock effect is that I turn off Fog of War during the Axis player turn when I invade the USSR.

What about if you removed some or all entrenchment from units with x hexes of the border with Germany or something like that?
