Grazyn -> [FIXED] Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/19/2017 7:25:59 AM)

Average speed is set to 20 kts, sprint and drift box is checked, but the sub only starts at 20 kts and then stays at 5 kts for the rest of the trip without sprinting once.

Just checked this now. It seems that the boat had inherited a "bad" average speed value (5 knots) from the previous save you had submitted on the same issue. If you uncheck the sprint-drift checkbox and re-check it again, the desired average speed is correctly set to 20 knots and the sub sprints and drifts correctly.

Grazyn -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/19/2017 8:57:29 AM)

I don't see how it could've inherited anything since I created this one from a blank new scenario, only the save name is the same. I created yet another blank scenario with a different boat, with speed override set at 15 kts. As you can see it will start at 15 and then stay at 5 kts for the duration of the trip, but if you pause, uncheck the boxes and set it again to 15 kts average, something weird will happen: it will stay on 5 kts and when it comes the time to sprint, it will rotate on itself at 15 kts instead and then resume at 5 kts (similar to the original bug). This only happens with manual average speed, with just the "sprint and drift" box checked it will sprint correctly.

Dimitris -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/19/2017 9:01:09 AM)

Can you try it with B972.5 ?

Grazyn -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/19/2017 9:13:16 AM)

This is another test from a brand new blank scenario and a random sub with build 972.5

https://www.mediafire.com/file/r794ca5w1l9e3ci/test%202.save

Problem is still there. Doesn't sprint except at the start, and unchecking the boxes and setting 15 kts again only makes it rotate when it should be sprinting.

Boltzmann -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/24/2017 2:41:48 AM)

I have tested this with the recent update and sub sprints at flank then slow to 5 knots for the drift. Is this as desired? Would think sprint would be below cavitation aka 20-25knots.

Thanks, we'll check again.

This is deliberate; when sprinting you don't really care who's hearing you, what you want to do is cover the ground you have lost while drifting.

Grazyn -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/24/2017 6:49:55 AM)

I created another test to check if the issue was still there with 972.6.
In this scenario we have submarines and ships. The Los Angeles and the Perry are assigned to patrol, while the Virginia and the Burke are unassigned. This is what happens: the Los Angeles doesn't S&D on patrol, ever, while the Perry does it correctly. The Virginia is set to manual average speed but doesn't S&D along the trip, changing the speed again doesn't solve it. The Burke also has manual speed set and doesn't seem to S&D.

However, I could get it to work once for the Burke, it seems to depend on the order you check/unchek the boxes in and the current speed of the unit, but I can't reproduce it.

The problem is only there if you set a manual average speed, just checking the S&D box will make the unit work correctly, EXCEPT for submarines assigned on a patrol mission, they don't seem to S&D.

Registered a separate ticket on this, thanks [8D]

LMychajluk -> RE: Submarine sprint and drift issue (v1.13 build 972.4) (10/25/2017 11:41:52 PM)

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread, since this sounds like a similar issue, but w/ a Burke, not a Sub.

After setting 'Sprint and Drift', when re-opening the Throttle dialog, I get a series of errors (see attached RTF file for screen caps) and sometimes it will show a mis-formed Throttle dialog box (also in the RTF). Save of game at that point is also included. But, I'm still on 1.13, 972.4 (from Steam).

Hope this helps.

Hi, I _think_ we fixed this in B972.6 and onwards. Can you update manually to this version (or get it through Steam when available) and give it another try? Thanks!

Thanks, that save helped indeed.

The problem was that the S&D-derived throttle commands were conflicting with the mission-derived throttle commands. Tweaked it so that the S&D commands take priority.

Fixed for the next update.
