Greetings,

I'm currently creating a scenario based on the Niger ISIS attack. In this scenario, the US is launching a large counter-attack on amassed ISIS forces in Niger, and a faction of the Niger military has decided to support them. There's an America-class amphib carrier off the coast and the helicopters will fly through Benin airspace to get to Niger. I've also placed a small airfield in Benin which has two KC-130s and two AC-130U to provide refuelling and airstrike support to the marines and SEALs.

I plan to send these troops on six CH-53Es. You can select a loadout that has 16 SEALs or a number of marines, and they are characterised as a weapons system on the helicopter. I was hoping this means the helicopter can actually land troops. So I CTRL-F1ed assuming it would be a BOL launch that would cause a ground unit to appear.

I brought the Stallion to minimum altitude and hover, however it says re the 16X SEAL commando, "16X can NOT fire. Target is out of weapons range". I did the BOL co-ordinate literally at the same co-ordinate as the helicopter so I don't see how it could be out of range.

Can you actually land troops this way, or is the 16x SEAL commandos basically just eye candy and I would have to create some kind of trigger event and make those SEALs appear on the ground by way of a new creation

In the base game, your analysis is correct. You need to create an event that will fire and spawn the SEALs under the helicopter.

If you have Chains of War, logistics are modeled. There's more details here.

Thanks for the info; I will go and purchase Chains of War now!
