kgambit -> [ANSWERED] Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (10/31/2017 6:07:16 PM)

During my update to build 972.8 and the activation of Northern Inferno, the 2015 C++ Redistributable installation failed because I had a more recent version (14.0.24215.1) then the one that the prerequisite exe attempted to install (14.0.23026.0). So, the question is simple - should I uninstall the existing later version and replace it with the earlier one?

I have always gotten he same message and just skipped the C++ sort of update.

the correct way, is always install the 32bit versions of the earliest version first, then the same versions 64bit, then carry on with the updates in sequence, while some won't cause errors install our of order, some times it makes another version ask to be rechecked, when you try to install it again, kind of like a repair function etc.

so as long as the 32bit version is installed first, the order of date sometimes doesn't matter, as shown by my screenshot below, but there is some who say a given one can't be installed with a certain one first, as the latest one needs uninstalling first, not an issue for me as i slipstream the files into a image of the O/S i'm using at the time, unless like shown, it's a new build, not a update one, as this is the latest win 10 shown, which is only a few weeks old now

Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit (10.0, Build 16299) (16299.rs3_release.170928-1534)

installing the same version more than once makes no difference as it's smart enough to know and just ask to either repair, which is just a recheck or install which is a reinstall / repair of the same version over the top, it it offers you to uninstall, caused by a conflict if an older or newer version is found which conflicts or needs to be done in a different order etc.

It's a good habit to just install everything the installer asks you too. It doesn't harm anything to do that and you don't have to remember what you did or didn't install. If something is missing you'll definitely know as the program tends to not run in those cases.[:)]
