Thanks delta07d,

You're right. The two maps were missing (Fox Green and Cabourg).

Now the two maps are ready to be downloaded.

Thank you very much for your help.

I hope you enjoy the scenario.

Julio:

Any recommendations on how to do your Omaha scenarios. They seem impossible as you have entrenched defenders with 88s, MGs, etc. that nearly match the attackers in numbers. An attacker was shooting for a 3:1 or 2.5:1 advantage in numbers I thought. I know we talked about this before. But still.
In Omaha Dog Green the first shot from an 88 brews up a Sherman. How is one supposed to win these scenarios? (I know I am not a great player!) Thanks for your thoughts.

Gerry

Hello Gerry,

Yes, it's hard to win Omaha scenarios. The American soldiers also had a very bad time, especially those who were part of the first wave.

But, ... you can win, believe me.

Recommendations:

1.- Prudent landing. When you get to the beach, take your men out of the boats but leave them in the obstacles on the beachfront. The obstacles create low visibility to the defenders. Don't advance further, even though you have available movement capacity.

2 .- Consider the Sherman as a bait for the AI. Don't worry if you're exposed to the fire of the German defenders. They also don't have many possibilities to get a critical impact against the bunkers.

3.- Deployment. In the next turn to the landing on the beach, move the units separating them from each other. It's important that the AI has too many targets within its range because it also doesn't have an infinite capacity of shots.

4.- Always ahead. The GI, although inexperienced, have more power than the few German squads deployed, and which are also of low quality. The result of each close combat must be favourable to the GI in most cases.

5.- There're many victory hexes. Don't obsess about winning all in the first turn. Although the scenario is short, your infantry can reach their objectives on time. Taking the farthest victory hex is the million dollar prize. Don't lose sight of it.

6.- Don't shoot. Move forward, move forward, and move forward. Recover your broken men and keep moving forward.

7.- Finally, remember that the brave soldiers that landed in the first wave also suffered a terrible carnage .....

It was not easy ....

Also, ... who says you aren't a great player?

Gerry4321 -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 4:02:55 AM)

I did!!

Found a problem in this scenario I think:

1. Unloaded Shermans.
2. Next turn, I used the Turn button to change VCA but with both Shermans they just glided off the map.Never to be seen again.

Any thoughts.

Hello Gerry,

In Omaha Dog Green there're 2 Shermans who start the scenario in a water hex. These two AFVs represent the 2 DD Shermans who managed to reach the beach in the first wave.

Therefore, the first thing you have to do is move the Shermans to a beach hex. You don't have to press the [Load/Unload] button. Only you just have to move the Sherman to a beach hex. You'll see that 9MP is spent, so you still have 1MP left to change his VCA.

What you say "... Next turn, I used the Turn button to change VCA but with both Shermans they just glided off the map. Never to be seen again ..." is a surprise. I have never seen it!

Surely it’s the AI old trick to win the scenario by a dirty way!

Gerry4321 -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 6:27:46 PM)

Julio:

It must have been when the reinforcements came in for that scenario then or a different scenario then. It happened the turn after unloading the Shermans. So not an issue of the DD ones.

OK Gerry, I'm going to check the reinforcements on the Omaha Dog Green scenario.

asl3d -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 7:53:05 PM)

OK Gerry, here I copy the screens of the Omaha Dog Green scenario.

Following your comments I played the scenario until turn 3 where the reinforcements arrive.

I have managed to wear the 3 landing craft with the tanks and his combat engineers on board and I have disembarked them on the beach.

The image that I am copying is the situation on the beach at the beginning of turn 4. Rounded in red are each of the 3 tanks and his combat engineers.

Gerry4321 -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 7:57:20 PM)

Just an update. Tried it again. Had a Sherman unloaded in B13. Next turn I changed VCA, Sherman appears to drive offboard. But is actually still in the hex.

A question. I notice that the main Gun of the Sherman aligns with a hexside when you change TCA. Not with the hexspine as in ASL. Is this just the way LnL is?

asl3d -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 7:57:26 PM)

Then, I have advanced with the combat engineers towards the wall at the end of the beach.

In this way, the 3 Shermans are left alone and in their original position after landing.

In the image you have them in circles.

asl3d -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 8:00:16 PM)

Then, I rotated a Sherman by changing its VCA, as you can see in the attached image.

asl3d -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 8:02:38 PM)

Then, I rotated another Sherman by changing its VCA and moved it to an adjacent hex, as you can see in the attached image.

asl3d -> RE: Scenarios for Heroes and Leaders mod (5/31/2019 8:05:11 PM)

Finally, I have rotated the third Sherman by changing its VCA, moved it to an adjacent hex, and finally rotated its VCA again in the new hex, as you can see in the attached image.

OK Gerry. I understand that everything is fine.

Hexspine: it's the same concept as in ASL. But Sherman's main weapon is horribly oriented towards the hexspine. I have drawn all the turrets with the same orientation as the originals of LnL (45º), but it is horrible!

I have not found an explanation about it.
