Hi Ronald,

So there is no need to cut Murmansk map into pieces - by the way what will be the new map size and unit limits?

Ronald Wendt -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (7/17/2019 1:10:52 PM)

Hi AngrySwan,

you have to check on the Murmansk map it might still be wise to make two parts because even if there is no crash there still can be a performance problem with a map crawling on a week computer.

As to the limits i have not checked them yet. The Leningrad-Novgorod map was within the "allowed" size, yet it crash under 32-bit. I guess one has to create a scenario with the maximum size and put rivers, forests and a few hundred units on it. So for no mission i had in mind needed that.

You will soon have the opportunity to test that yourself if you wish as a new test version should be available in the near foreseeable future.

After Minsk has fallen, the Front moved to Warsaw. Some artillery units have become a real menace and they will help to claim the Polish capital from the Germans. I prefer to add support units for long lasting support fire and counter strikes.

Finally its goint towards Berlin. This spring will be long remembered in the German capital. The 7. Guards Rifle Division i build up during the campaign is eager to lead the attack and to add more Axis units to its kill list.

Having played a successful campaign, i got the bonus mission and now have to destroy the last German units located in Czechoslovakia.
This also concludes the Alpha phase/testing and from now on the campaign could be tested as a beta version.
We are currently investigating one more potential bug (the combat prediction inaccuracy) and then there will be a public beta for anyone who like to get their hands on a pre-release of Germany at War 1.09.

Thank you for all of your hard work. I think I will get in on the Beta when it's ready.

Zovs -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (7/26/2019 9:00:15 AM)

Ronald please let us know when beta is ready. I’ll try to set aside some time to play test it.

AngrySwan -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (7/26/2019 11:23:22 AM)

Hi Ronald,

An interesting campaign from the point of view of campaign design - a chance to fight many missions and get upgrades for units as well as new equipment as the war goes on.
Germans are not so lucky - they only start getting the new stuff when they actually have lost the war.

You are very welcome. It would be great to have you on the Beta (which hopefully is available next week), the more it is played, the better should be the release.

Its in my interest to get the word out so i will definitely let you know here. The Soviets need a good commander in these hard times.

That's one of the things the Beta is about, to get some opinions about the the Soviet Dawn campaign. We hope that it will provide good fun in combination with the new features.

Hi folks,

in this post there is an image of the current state of the Leningrad-Novgorod map. The plan is, that the player places his units as the 2nd Shock army that attacked from Oranienbaum, while using the forces of other armies (42nd, 67th, 8th and 59th) to force Army Group North into a retreat.

Sadly the map seems not to load during the campaign, which is most likely a memory problem as the map is huge and contains many units.

Maybe i have to cut off the area around lake Illmen or even more to make it work, maybe we can find another solution.

Its a current stepping stone, but certainly not unsolvable.

Hi Ronald,

I would be interested to take a look at this huge map, if that’s possible ?

Ronald Wendt -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (9/2/2019 4:36:07 AM)

Hi terminator,

sure you can have the map. Just note that this is exactly the version when i pulled it from the campaign. So a lot of things are unfinished.
The German OoB should be correct, but on the Soviet side i had to edit two armies at a point and i do not remember if that is already in this map.

As currently there is no option for adding a zip file, there is a link to the Phobetor page which should provide the map.

Use it any way you like.

Thanks,

I did a test, this map could be playable as a solo scenario but I prefer to concentrate on the beta test Soviet Dawn campaign.

Hi terminator,

you are welcome. If you need any other map just let me know.

Hi Ronald,

Thank you for this big map [:)]

I know how to get the Soviet Dawn campaign maps. I would be interested in possible other beta maps that are not in the Soviet Dawn campaign (?)

Ronald Wendt -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (9/27/2019 6:01:08 AM)

Hi terminator,

you are welcome. There currently is no other map in a useful state (correct infrastructure like towns and rivers) i can think of that is not included in the beta version.

But maybe there will be some later.

Regards,

Hi terminator,

Courland is a player decision, but it only shows up if you have won Smolensk and Leningrad with a brilliant victory before. Then you can choose to go into the grinder in the Baltics or to march to the west directly.

It seems that it is necessary to have a Brilliant victory also in Bagration.
It is very difficult to have a Brilliant victory at Bagration (I tried several times without success). The map is great and the number of turns is too fair to reach Minsk in time which is well defended.

Ronald Wendt -> RE: Germany at War - Soviet Dawn (10/6/2019 5:57:31 AM)

Hi terminator,

that is correct, but you need to have the other two also. I guess in my mind it was obvious you also need to win Bagration brillantly thats why i forgot to mention it. Sorry for the unprecise statement.

This could be another presentation for the Campaign tree of Chapter III: Revenge - South (I changed the connection of the Jassy-Kishinev scenario)

Hi terminator,

indeed a better version of that campaign tree. I will use this for the release version. Thanks.
