JKLilly -> TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 1:39:28 PM)

Obviously need to adjust screen resolution. Where to go for advice on this.

zakblood -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 1:40:44 PM)

I use 1440x900, but larger ones should work fine, too. What's your resolution and you do know, you can adjust the fonts in the game as well?

EDIT: Didn't see that post there, thanks for the info Klink! A lot of options there :)

Yep -- same here, some of the fonts are *way* too small on 2560x1440. Especially the bottom status font and some of the dialogs need to be larger.

Also it does not play nice with the Windows10 scaling options. Usually a problem of small fonts would be solved by setting scaling for the exe to "System (Enhanced)" but this creates all kinds of issues it seems. Also it's not ideal since the game-map itself is fine - and scaling causes a bit of blur which could be avoided if the fonts just were larger.

It's strange, when watching the videos online it looked fine, but not sure of course what resolution those guys play at.

Moved to tech support forum :)

zakblood -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 1:49:07 PM)

most default steam games work at 1920x1080, with the highest % of users, but for war games and these 3 sites, i have no idea

All that may be true but T4 has a fonts editor that you can use to make the text as big as you need because the
dialogs resize based on the text.

best option is post your res, eg report

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

and then a tech forum person will reply with an answer

There's sure a LOT of text options, so that's good -- just really hard to figure out which font is which.

And even harder because it seems changing font requires a game restart... [8|]

cdcool -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 2:45:14 PM)

I knew this was going to be a problem.
I made adjustments in the Opart3 file after playing around with the font sizes and saved it during the Beta.

I just took a look at the code and it looks like it should refresh after editing through the built-in editor without requiring an editor.

From what I remember the built in editor was not saving the settings, is that fixed now?

zakblood -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 5:53:01 PM)

In part 19.10 of the manual there are appear to be settings to do it in the ini-file.

ChangeScreenResolution=N Y=Alternate Screen Resolution
ScreenY=768 Alternate Screen Resolution Parameter
ScreenX=1024 Alternate Screen Resolution Parameter

input your own screen size and see if it scales and works for you

users on the forum have reported it works with larger size displays

rwenstrup -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 8:32:29 PM)

Strange ... my opart4.ini file does not show all the parameters ... doesn't show the ChangeScreenResolution line ...

zakblood -> RE: TOAW Text unreadably small (11/16/2017 8:46:46 PM)

information was posted here

They're saying the same thing. Dialog's scale relative to font size, if you make the font larger, the dialog should scale with it just fine, however unit counters and other graphics like that don't scale using that method. If you want the graphics to scale too, you need to set it up for full screen and set a resolution.
