Unplayable in 4k.

radic202 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/16/2017 11:26:40 PM)

I'm running the game on a 35' wide screen Predator monitor at 3440 X 1440 and it only seems to give me 2 views when scrolling: one far away and way too small and the other real close and way big. It would be nice to have a "middle". Anyhow, it is just amazing to look at on my screen even too small and too big! LOL!

You can edit the font size in Player Options. You probably want the Status Bar and Unit Info Value. You will have to restart the game after but it saves the changes.

Thanks I will try it out.

Can you be a little more specific as I have no idea where to find those options and what to do exactly? I mean I know where the player Options is but the rest........Thanks in advance.

pochepiller -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/16/2017 11:39:30 PM)

but its more the resolution than the font, the icon are so small

alwaysdime -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/16/2017 11:48:29 PM)

If you find the graphics too small you would have to change your desktop resolution. If its just the font size is too small you can edit them.
1) Go to Play - Players Options
2) Hit the next Next Page button
3) Click on Edit Fonts
4) Click on the option you want to edit
5) Change font size and enter a value
6) Restart the game

For me going to a size of 18-20 worked for me. Don't make it too high or it could be the whole screen. I would start with the Status Bar since that would make the text descriptions easier on that screen.

Good luck and enjoy!

Are you zoomed in?

pochepiller -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/16/2017 11:58:43 PM)

full zoomed in its still a little small

sPzAbt653 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 4:10:15 AM)

Try hitting 'Y' a couple times. 3-4 times works well for me. Shift + Y goes back out.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 4:18:18 AM)

Shot from W7. Screen Resolution can be changed here [seen below]. Note that this shot has the highlighted file named 'OPART 3', but today you will see it named 'OPART IV'.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 4:20:35 AM)

Two, three and four lines above the highlighted line, you change the screen resolution. Make sure to set ChangeScreenResolution to = Y.

A couple of people have mentioned editing the OPART 4.ini file to adjust the screen resolution. I'm not sure if this information is being ported over from previous versions of OAOW, but as far as I can see you cannot adjust the screen resolution in the .ini file. More than happy to be pointed in the right direction on this one as I'm finding the whole resolution thing rather unsatisfactory.

I just showed you right there above your post, lol!

Seriously, I do it all the time, I switch between 768 x 1024 and 1024 x 1280. So you are saying that you followed the above instructions and the resolution did not change ?

msinnot1 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 9:20:14 AM)

sPzAbt653,

Thanks for posting a screenshot of the Opart3.ini file, however, the Opart4.ini does not have entries for ChangeScreenResolution, screenY, or screenX. Well, at least my install does not. Any idea where these entries are now or do they have to be added manually to the ini file?

Shadrach -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 9:27:20 AM)

Are you using Windows 10 - if so, try going into the game folder, and go to properties of the game executable. Go to Compatibility and override DPI scaling to "System". It should scale everything up, given of course you have also set DPI scaling in Windows itself.

If you are running 100% DPI scaling on a 4k screen (madness!), then your only option to scale the graphics is to change the resolution in the game files. 1080p should look fine on most displays without too much blur.

cdcool -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 10:15:50 AM)

I took the time and made a custom Opart3/4Fonts.ini, I had to figure out what font's and menus affected what, it made everything larger and readable.
the game works in 4K

BigDuke66 -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 12:14:36 PM)

Yes he did:

Tamas -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 12:32:45 PM)

I am not a 100% sure this works (yet), but you guys might want to grab this OPART4.INI FILE and copy it to "Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV"

Make sure to make a copy/rename your old one in case you want to revert.

I have added to this file the lines that should set your resolution to 1920*1080, solving at least for now, the issue with 4K resolutions some people are having. We are looking into a more elegant solution as well of course, and this one also still needs confirmation that it does change the resolution as intended.

Strange, I don't have any Screen X or Y setting in mine and I have no issues on 4K

I haven't had any issues either on the 4K monitor (using 4K resolution) I could test it on either, but several people do have it would seem.

pochepiller -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 12:45:32 PM)

I tried that and the hit detection for the icon are all off, you click on new game and then it choose load game.

Do you mean the thing I posted?

pochepiller -> RE: How to change my resolution? (11/17/2017 1:01:22 PM)

yes I change the scaling in the properties and the icons hit detection are messed up. I used the custom .ini files for the font and opart4 and it's better. Thanks a lot.

My apologies, I added those lines to mine so long ago during Beta that I forgot that they were excluded. As you can see by previous posts, the powers that be are working on it [although as I said I had no issue adding those three lines in myself].
