Odenathus -> Moving TOAW III scenarios to IV (11/17/2017 1:36:50 AM)

How easy would this be to do if I have the old scenarios from III and wanted to move them to IV - this must already have been addressed as most of the scenarios are familiar from III, so feel free to point me towards another thread?

And are there any of the new features that need to be rethought if you do this?

Cheers

All of the scenarios from III are in IV, are they not ?

Maybe he means old scenarios from III that not came with release or the patches.

Mark,
If you have a scenario in III that is not included in IV (perhaps one you grabbed from another site, etc), open IV Editor---> Open Scenario---> go to your C Drive in the dropdown
--->Matrix Games--->TOAWIII--->Scenarios---> open the III scenario of interest. It will open in the IV Editor. Save the game in an appropriate IV Scenario folder.
You should be able to go to New Game and play the game in IV.
NOTE: Make sure you do not accidentally save the game in III. Games are not backward compatible and you will no longer be able to open it in III in either Editor or New Game.
Let me know if any problems or question.
cheers

I also found a strange behavior. If I saved the now opened TOAW III scenario from TOAW IV scenario editor, back to the original directory, I still have equipment file problems when playing in TOAW IV. Strange, something left over in original III directory?

Anyway, it all works when saving to a new directory for IV scenarios, so far I've played two III scenarios with IV and they played great, no problems. And since they were replays, I found they played just as well. Actually, better, the UI just makes the game so much more enjoyable.

Thanks to all, I'll give it a try at the w/e.

This should not happen. Please double-check you are actually overwriting the old file when trying to save it in its original folder.

I tried again. It is a windows protection scheme going on since I'm not running as administrator. The TOAW III scenarios were saved with program run with admin permission. The strangeness is that a failed over write of a file should have been reported, but wasn't.

Oh well, I'm not having any problems converting and having a blast playing some of the scenarios that didn't make it into TOAW IV. Some balancing issues, but overall, its a great ride!

How many scenarios come with the game? I just downloaded it and got 2 scenarios and a tutorial

Click on the directory icon. By default (1st start) the game just points to the tutorials folder.
