Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:06:29 PM)

The third button is the Inventory:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/6988A5D3F9304E6BB385CF10D7718EBA.jpg[/image]

The only changes are the scroll bar and the sorting ability of the column headings.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:07:17 PM)

The first button of the third row is the Expected Reinforcement Report:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/72F7BAAB49FC4A4B94262169D90E4A4F.jpg[/image]

Note the scroll bar, health icon, and unit icon. Note that the Unit Info of units that aren’t on the map yet are shown bracketed, to help ID those units.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:08:00 PM)

The second button is the Recent Reinforcements Report:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/2F34C27065E747E28F239FE374C9D6D2.jpg[/image]

The health icon is new, as is the unit icon and strength info. Note the scroll bar.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:10:55 PM)

The third button calls up the Theater Option report:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/8D0F0954F23749818A1D99310ABF1D90.jpg[/image]

This now has a scroll bar and the limit of options displayable at one time has been increased from 16 to 64.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:12:11 PM)

The fourth button on this row toggles the Unit Panel display mode (from stack to group composition and back). This is the same as right-clicking in the Unit Panel.

The bottom row of buttons control the PO Assist operation. They turn on/off the display of one or all formation objectives, toggle PO Mode, and execute PO moves.

Finally, let’s look at the popup dialogs.

First, the movement popup:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/58E0BB32BD064FEC84EBE9E41E78CCA1.jpg[/image]

Note that to get the movement popup, you may have to hold the mouse button down for a short delay, depending upon what you have set the Menu Delay to in the Player Options. Here, I’ve set no delay, so the menu comes up immediately.

Also note that this scenario has a value of 2 for the Improved Road Motorized Movement Divisor. That means that motorized units pay only ½ MP for each improved road hex entered.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:13:16 PM)

The popup that results from right-clicking a stack can have many options, depending upon what is possible in the terrain (rail damage, rail repair, bridge damage, bridge repair, board plane, ship, train, helicopter, etc.).

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:13:44 PM)

Here, one thing not yet seen is the Group Composition:

[image]local://upfiles/14086/65AE2FC439ED48D4B210E2D7F42B6B49.jpg[/image]

Note the dialog now uses huge counters and there is no 3D graphic. Otherwise, the entire popup is unchanged from TOAW III.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/18/2017 7:14:33 PM)

That covers the game UI. Next I’ll detail the Editor UI.

Happy Wargaming!

Hey everyone,

The above is Bob's User Interface Guide, that I posted earlier as a PDF.

We hope this way it will be easier to read through, and comment/ask questions.

Phoenix100 -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/21/2017 2:56:38 PM)

V helpful. Thanks.

Moltke71 -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/21/2017 3:25:57 PM)

Great work; am walking through it now.

*Lava* -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/21/2017 3:58:58 PM)

Nicely done!

A lot of work there.

Thanks!

IslandInland -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/21/2017 5:37:19 PM)

Thanks for this.

Meyer1 -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/22/2017 1:58:14 AM)

Great one Bob, thanks a lot.

Meyer1 -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/22/2017 2:01:53 AM)

Just a question: is there any indication on the combat reports if the unit/s attacked has been "outflanked"?

I've never seen one in all my years of gaming. Is there a game that has that?

Dunno, Was hoping for TOAW [:)]
I`m talking a bout the "flanking bonus". Not sure I understand the new flanking rules correctly.

the units' co-operation level flags are no longer there
they are now only visible in the attack planner
I'd like to see that back

Oberst_Klink -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/22/2017 7:26:15 AM)

Not in that pop-up windows, but when you right-click on the stack information window.

I found out before you replied ;-) Thanks Herr Oberst!

alwaysdime -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (11/24/2017 4:02:22 AM)

Can I see a busier Combat Planner? By busy I mean 12 or so units with some attacking, some not. I had trouble seeing the combat arrow on support units like arty and air units so I was using both by selecting the unit and planning the attack rather than the combat planner. That was a slow and tedious work around.

Somebody already made a mod; the attack arrows are now gold; check the mod section out.

Fantastic resource, thank you so much!

Have you ever edited something in the editor late at night and then the next day for the life of you, you can't find? So yeah, lol, where is the place I edit the 'force supply radius'? It's not in any of the extended menus in the edit button drop down [&:]

With the checkbox unchecked, the DBRs are circular:
Veteran players should recall that this was how they appeared under TOAW III. This mode is best for telling where the DBR originates from.

Bob, great tutorial. Very helpful. I was just cursing the hexagonal ranges. Now I had a scotch and your tutorial, playing Operation Overlord with circular ranges and I am OK!
Thanks

BigDuke66 -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (12/10/2017 1:47:18 AM)

Just to be sure, there isn't any in-game way to change the color of the mark circles? I mean these yellow an gray circles that mark the active unit and the formation it's in.

I don't think so. There are however many mods for these files.

demyansk -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (12/10/2017 11:40:40 AM)

Very good explanation. Thanks

DanNeely -> RE: TOAW IV USER INTERFACE (12/10/2017 3:01:16 PM)

This mod thread includes several different color options.
