OK, that's it for today, peeps! Attached the saves from T5-T9.

Feedback and suggestions about further tutorials are welcome!

Slides are great and helped me to get a better grasp at certain aspects of the game ...one topic i would like to see covered in a further tutorial is: supply/logistics

I will handle that after my last few slides; I'll leave the last couple of turns without guidance; because the enemy is more or less finished. Once encircled and the last town captured they will simply be without supplies.

28th and last slide... Now it's up to you to decide, from T9 (see my recent posted turn saves) onwards. I am already making plans to modify the scenario (same map though) and name it perhaps Tutorial '42;concentrating on logistics, supply, railroad, engineering and maybe other little bits and bobs. Suggestions what I should cover are appreciated. BTW, you can easily right click and Save as... the pictures/slides here without me putting them into the cloud, OK?

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 7:47:01 PM)

As promised...a 'boring' logistics, supply, railroad and bridge repair tutorial scenario. It's March 1942, the 11.Pz.Div is now... well, they got a rough time in Russia... Nether the less, we have to do our duties in our assigned theatre of operations. It's cold, really cold at the moment and re-supplying our trusted Pol.Btl.381, as well as maintaining our lines of supply is a top priority here!

Klink, Oberst

Note - I decided to move the new Tutorial '42 session to a new thread in order to avoid confusion with Q&A related to Tutorial '41. So, Have a look.

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 8:28:10 PM)

Sorry about the typos again! It bugs me, really it does. :O Anyway. Time for me to hit the sack; more to come tomorrow. I do hope though my audience ain't let me down because of that 'boring' topic, eh?

Meyer1 -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 8:39:54 PM)

Great stuff Klink, thanks.

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 8:54:58 PM)

:D Glad you are so enthusiastic about supply, additional attrition (called pestilence in the game...), sh***y weather, poor squaddies without supply, rear area guys who just do their job, etc. ;) But those guys are the one who keep the fighting boys... well, fighting? No food, no bullets... what use would be a crack Panzer Division without it, eh?

alpenmonster -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 10:27:21 PM)

Looking forward to your next tutorial, Oberst Klink!...btw one question: If several units from different hexes (no limited attack!) attack one hex => How does the engine decide which unit advances and which not?

Meyer1 -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 11:10:39 PM)

While waiting for a better answer, I'd guess that all units attacking will advance to the hex unless they break the attack first. Loss tolerance settings play a role here, checking the combat chart is really useful (perhaps you already know this, but units on "limited attack" will not advance)

alpenmonster -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/26/2017 11:20:26 PM)

..all my units were on limited losses and no limited attack...though I know the combat chart, I am not using it..so thank you for the reminder..I totally forgot about it![:)]...is there a possibility to control which units andvance? (besides setting all units that should not advance on limited attack settings)

You canīt control the combat result, the enemy has a say on that [:)]. "Units on ignore losses" are more likely to take the combat to the "bitter end" than other loss settings. So you could use that as a pointer. I guess proficiency also may be a factor.
If under no circumstances you want a unit to advance, use "limited attack"

And use the chart at least a couple of times, even veterans of TOAW III learned a lot with it. Is really nice.

..o.k...thanks![:)]

Many thanks, Klink.

The moderators should definitely make this and your other tutorial a stickie (and is shuld be included in the game, IMHO)

Impressive am I not? ;) Well... that's the former NCO and (TEFL/DaF) teacher in me... can make even 'boring' stuff gripping for my audience, eh?

Recommended reading in order to understand what's 'under the hood' of German tactics
in WW2.

Rename the file extension from .ZIP to .PDF and it will work.

OK, I just played through this for the first time. Got a draw. But in the last half of the game, I got no resupply. The aircraft were moved to the city like the tutorial slides say and they never resupplied. I kept check the route and there wasn't anything blocking them. So why did I get no supply?

If possible, could you supply me with the save? I'll look into it. Alas, you did snatch/download my saves as well, I take it?

Here you go. This was the last auto save. I renamed it. This is at the start of Yugo turn 15.

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Tutorial '41 - Including 1st Step Slides [TOAW 3.4] (11/30/2017 8:13:37 PM)

Turn 15?! Oh well, that might explain something ;) I will have a look at it first thing in the morning... after a ciggie and a coffee, aye?

Anyway. I do hope the tutorial was kinda helpful after all, eh?
