17 seconds from the time of clicking to open a browser to the time I copied the link. 17 seconds. I learned these symbols in the 70's on my own. Poor kids these days, modern technology has ruined their ability to think straight. We old guys are so lucky.

Amen. None of them I have encountered outside of the military can think, write, research, or make a decision worth a damn. They would have died on their first day under fire back when I was a young man.

Now, now, you old guys, especially pre-military, need to relax and understand it is not always about intelligence.

I'm one of you (61 with 13 years USAF, 25 IBM), and I prefer NATO symbols, more informative, but I also realize folks like eye candy and some of these unit counter ideas are, well, pretty.

TOAW units "usually" consists of multiple types of equipment, so the NATO symbols make more sense to me. But the joy of TOAW is everyone can design their scenario as they please, and if they change to non-NATO counters, its cool. Awesome actually, because its a new scenario to play!

They are not talking about NATO symbols yes/NAYO symbols not, but to the some guys tendency to ask or complain for things that demand a simple google search or reading the manual.

Well oops, my bad. But it is not hard why folks like to complain or ask before putting in any effort, no? Spoon fed or just an impatient lot!

Okay, I stand corrected, appologies to my fellow old gents, back to gaming...

SIPRES -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (11/27/2017 5:15:35 PM)

Here is a draft of "non Nato", mainly German WW2 equipment (I think it could had been suitable to have 2 versions of counters SIDE A, SIDE B. it would give more flexibility for modding)
Many blanks remains.. on going work

Any comment is welcome

Christophe

I like it, very interesting counters alternative !

nikdav -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (12/3/2017 3:21:30 PM)

waiting for the tanks counters !

fulcrum28 -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (12/4/2017 10:47:42 AM)

wonderful counters Sipres!

Is there a possibility to edit the 3D counters and change the color for example? I dont recognize the format name.
And could they be mapped on the 2D map instead of 3D map?

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (12/4/2017 2:55:08 PM)

Just one thing, peeps... be aware of those icons who are hard-coded to have special capabilities; Bob posted a screenshot which of those icons have the special capabilities... that's important.

Thanks for advice heer Oberst,

I try to keep same logic as the vanilla NATO file so should be OK, its sometimes difficult due to the few pixels available.
I remember to have seen the screenshot you mention but I cant find it anymore.

I will post latest version later this evening.

Jemus -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (4/3/2018 1:31:39 PM)

Sipres, are you still working on those graphical icons? That's exactly what I am looking for...

zakblood -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (4/3/2018 1:40:29 PM)

+1, me also, as i have no idea still on Nato ones, old i maybe, but Nato ones just don't cut it for many players

Cabido -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (4/3/2018 8:15:39 PM)

+1

I usually prefer NATO symbols, since most games using figurative icons just feel childish, but those are really well designed. Very good job. [&o]

SIPRES -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (4/9/2018 8:10:07 AM)

Thanks all,

I am currently busy on an other MOD for SC3

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4426073

But I didnt give up the TOAW one.

I will try to give an update soon

Christophe

Cabido -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (5/22/2018 6:31:53 PM)

Any updates on these?

I think they won't, perhaps, work well with the smaller sized counters, but that doesn't matter (at least for me). It can bring on a nice effect to have NATO symbols on a more strategical view (zoomed out) and those on a more tactical plane (zoomed in). I was willing to experiment with it, but as far as I can see, most counters aren't done yet.

IckieStickie -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (9/18/2019 6:36:21 PM)

Hey!,sorry to be a Pooper but is there any joy yet on the news/progress of these awesome looking counters?
Im also of the opinion of some of the above about Nato counters however i dont mind for example a little one in the top left corner say on counters like these ones here above by Sipres.^^

alaska47051 -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (9/24/2019 6:21:21 AM)

Hi IckieStickie,
I'm working on it.

I'm using some of the Icons from SIPRES (I hope it is allowed?) and some of the Icons from the Euipement256.png in the graphics directory of the game.

It will be for the 2D Huge View oft the Map (Options --> Map View --> 2D Huge) as the example from SIPRES.

It is no problem to change the images in the h_CounterUnits.png with Paint 3D, which is included in Windows 10.

Give me three days more and I will post the file,
Alaska

alaska47051 -> RE: Change Graphics to Non-Nato Icons (9/26/2019 7:19:15 PM)

All you have to do is:
(1) backup the h_CounterUnits.png file in the graphics directory
(2) Copy the new h_CounterUnits.png from this attachement in the graphics directory

Remarks
- it works only in the huge map view (Options -> Map View -> 2d Huge)
- it is easy to replace the Icons in h_CounterUnits.png, you can do it with the windows 10 tool "paint 3d"
- at page 97 in the manual is the explanation of the ingame Nato Symbols
- bold left side in the counters means the usual: heavy, heavy weapons
