Is there a way of adjusting the game difficulty beyond the levels presented in the UI? I'm finding the 1939 Allied campaign just about playable, but the Axis 1939 campaign impossible once the Soviets invade.

My understanding is that the game's difficulty can be adjusted by playing with the AI bonuses and disabling / enabling (I think they're all enabled by default) scripts at any point during the game.

The developers and/or more experienced players can probably give your more detailed info.

If the Soviets invade you may have waited too long to invade the USSR yourself.

Bottom line: create a war plan, and act on it. Don't let the Soviets invade, at least not as long as you don't want to be invaded by the Soviets.

If you want to you can disable scripts which trigger Soviet activation. Makes the game a cake walk for the Germans but it is a fun what if I've done before.

Playing standard though you really need to aim for invading the USSR no later than the historic date of June 21st 1941.

Oh you also need to keep two units not too far from Warsaw in 1940 and 4 in 1941. I believe it's within ten hexes.

Also don't worry about losing while learning. :)
