I have a brand spanking new PC and am in the process of installing John Tiller on it. It is a windows 10. I have the physical disc. I install it and it patches twice. It installs a desktop icon and is successful. I go to click start a game and nothing happens. It makes the typical squelch sound. I tried other options and they work perfectly. I am not able to get the game to start. My options? I also tried to download the game and it hangs at 99%....Battlestar Galactica and this game as well as Panzer Corp.

In reply: With all due respect I spoke erroneously. I used my physical CD instead on the download. It worked just fine. The problem is that when it patched, that is what broke the game. Whats the remedy....I cringe at getting into folders and changing stuff.....done it several times only to find out it was wrong.....


As to the other matters...i guess I should have bought physical copies like with JT.......this downloading issue is annoying.

once done, make a back up and then you don't have to do it again, only later patches etc, thanks for the reply on your sorted btw and enjoy your games and welcome to the forum

Just lie Garravesh, I have a brand new computer (windows 10) and can NOT get JTCS to run! Installs just fine from my old original download saved file
and everything looks ok. Hit play game and brings up the proper screens to choose a scenario and start it - but instead of launching the game it blinks back to the initial
screen (ie the "play game" initial screen) I have tried all the things listed in this thread, including the run as admin. bit and nothing is working! Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and no joy!
What is odd is that no such problems with my old system (also running Win10). Further odd thing is that will NOT do the 2.02 update - keeps saying Error. Again this all went just fine on the old system. What could be going on here??
Any further ideas on what to try??? HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!1

I have also tried all of Zak's suggested fixes to star the game and none of them worked.

This blows. I get a new comp and can't play the one game I've enjoyed for 20 years.

Try installing visual c++ 2008 redistributable x86 from microsoft. Also press on the game you want to play, not the play button.

most errors are file permissions or anti virus protection ones, and pre requisites, as most users think if they have a given new one, the older one isn't needed, which isn't correct.

game works fine on windows 10, but that's not to say it will work with all the junk some have pre loaded with it

your system start up should be next to empty, not full of every app and program you load, as 99% aren't needed, why have office pre loaded on startup each and every day only so it says 1 second of time pre loading it, when it takes up resources and slows everything else up while it sits there doing nothing? might as well load it when needed?

windows 10 has features to work with xbox and Microsoft games, none of which 99% of users need, so disable them

pre requisites, the more older games you have, the more of these you will need to install,

if you have a 64bit version of windows 10, you will need to install the 32bit pre requisites for the game first and then the 64bit version next, even if the game is only 32bit,...

some older games need direct play, which is in windows 10, but not installed by default

it only needs installing, you don't have to even have it as the default, just install it

some older games need even look for internet explorer installed, which is in windows 10, but not installed by default also.

like media player, it's rare but some try to load pages on install, and if the explore isn't loaded, it does load the page of notes and either hangs windows or gives an error message

most think installing windows 10 will give you automatically the most up to date drivers, which it doesn't. go to your motherboard makers and make sure and download the latest from there

Nvidia has a auto check tool, so does AMD

as most will have a intel chipset running on the M/B

doing all these will get 99% of all older none DOS games to work on the windows 10 pc, to get DOS games working windows 10, just use Dosbox[;)]

good luck and have fun, windows 10 is without doubt the best gaming platform of any version of windows, and i've had them all, played games on them all, and supported others on them for 20+ odd years,...

I'm running the download version of the game on Win 10 and it works perfectly. Just put it in compatibility mode for Win 7 and check the over ride box for high DPI scaling.
