Did you just recently buy Wacht am Rhein? I thought Battle HQ had been removed from the game distribution disks some time ago. You can download the client here:

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reactivity. We would like to play "Wacht am Rhein" campaign together with my son. I installed BHQ! as you mentioned but when I'm trying to create an account, it doesn't work at all. A web link appears and this message:

PAGE NOT FOUND

Sorry, it seems you were trying to access a page that doesn't exist. Please check the spelling of the url your were trying to access and try again.

I just bought 2 "Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein" licenses to play together with my son. We are very disappointed not to be able to enjoy this great tactical wargame which I played so much at the time of its release...

Can we get help to install correctly Battle HQ! or is there another way to play to LAN?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Worg

Worghern,

I believe support for Battle HQ ended some time ago when it was removed from the game installer -- Battle HQ is a third party utility though and I honestly don't know the status.

The good news is that you do not need Battle HQ to play multi-player. All you need to do is start the two versions of the game on different machines, have the host player go to the multi-player screen and begin hosting a game, and then have the joining player enter the host player's IP address in the game's multi-player screen.

If you're both on the same local network you should be able to use your local IP address (typically something like 192.168.1.*) but it should also work if you use the external IP (the external IP is what you'll usually see on the game multi-player when you start hosting.) NOTE: If you're using the external IP address you will need to set up your router and/or firewall to allow incoming connections on the Close Combat ports and forward these incoming connections to the host machine. Geeee....what are the odds?
Matrix forcing their online gaming software down our throaghts only to not support it later on down the road.

Hmmmm

And it only took a MONTH to get a response.
