SirAndrew -> Submarine Detection and Scenario Points (12/3/2017 3:57:32 PM)

Hello everyone!
I'm creating a few scenarios, but I've run into a couple of problems.
1) I've tried to create a scenario recreating in the modern days Mission 1 of Northern Inferno, that is protecting the GIUK Gap against the soviet submarine fleet. Listening to emsoy's advice, I've placed the SOSUS in shallower waters, but still I can't replicate the behaviour of this mission. It seems it can detect only contact that are very close. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? The file is named US Navy - SOSUS - NATO vs Russia.
2) in the same scenario, the ATR72 keeps crashing for lack of fuel. I've tried it multiple times, changing mission parameters etc, but it still crashes. I think it's a bug. Anyone with the same problem?
3) In my scenario Operation Retail 1946, I've some problems with awarding points. I think I've done it right, but something is not working. What is the problem?
4) the last question is about my scenario USA Land Strike on Lybia. I've made a small try to simulate Operation El Dorado Canyon, with a long strike and multiple tankers. My solution to that is to create a Support mission for strike airplanes and tankers, and then detach the F111 near Lybia, assign them to the strike mission and then back to the Support mission to return to England. Is that the best way to do a similar mission? Is there a better solution?
Greetings!
Andrew

Anyone? Point 2 I think is a bug and point 4 is not really urgent, but some help on point 1 and 3
will be more than welcome! [:)]

On 1) the SOSUS arrays are hung off the edges of the continental shelf, not on it. The performance increases in deep water, so want them somewhere in the middle where the depth goes from 300 to 1500m+.

Also, the subs you're hunting are among the quietest in the world. I.e. a silent hole in the water. By comparison, the subs you hunted in Northern Inferno were Novembers and other train wrecks. Your best chance of detecting them is when they move through choke points like the GIUK or Svalbard-Bjørnøya-Norway gap.

Good catch on #2, fixed in B991 + DB v472. Thanks! [8D]

3) Guys, scenario experts, can you please assist?

4) I think you may have attached an incorrect file?

SirAndrew -> RE: Submarine Detection and Scenario Points (12/24/2017 5:15:36 PM)

Ok, it seems I've over-corrected my scenario, now should be ok. I've run a test on a smaller scale and now seems to work fine, even with latest subs (tested with a 2005 Akula). Thank you very much for your help Emsoy! [&o]
By the way, just my curiosity kicking in, I've tried a test with the American, Chinese and Japanese SOSUS and they seem to have the same capabilities, is that true or my test was wrong?
And again out of curiosity, why the russian Cluster Lance has such a smaller range? What is causing that IRL?

SirAndrew -> RE: Submarine Detection and Scenario Points (12/24/2017 5:23:31 PM)

Regarding 3), I've read the manual and seen a video by Baloogan, so I think my mission it's ok, but for some reason I get points only when I sink a ship. When I destroy or lose an airplane or a submarine nothing happens...
4) I think the file is the right one, but I'll re-check it. But my question is more generic.
If I have to do a long range strike and I can't overfly some countries (like in the real Operation El Dorado Canyon), what is the best way to have the strike package run with the tankers and follow a pre-determined route instead of just flying the direct way to the target (and then going Bingo miles away from the tankers)?
Thank you again Emsoy for your help! Happy Holidays to everyone!! [:)]
Greetings
Andrea
