Orm -> RE: What are you giving for Christmas? (12/6/2017 2:14:20 PM)

My goal is to buy a book to a few close relatives that I think they will read during the coming year. The last few years I've felt that the books that I bought haven't worked as intended. So I have yet to figure out what to get them. If anything at all.

We leave you the cake for you alone Zak.
Obviously you seem to be hungry.[;)]

well if i had a choice between what to eat at dinner, a steak or 2 puddings, i'd pick the 2 puddings any day, so 3 coarse, equals 3 puddings[:D]

Actually, the funny thing is, that's in the kitchen because it's the screwdriver I use to heat weld tank tracks with :) Yes boys I make tank models. Although this morning I was using my precision tools to modify some new necklaces I bought.

Never saw that movie by the way.

Had to Google that :)

You guys are funny :)
Now I do recall numerous scenes from film that had guys flashing their buns :)
Naked girls don't really do anything for me though.

Red2112 -> RE: What are you giving for Christmas? (12/10/2017 5:27:52 PM)

[:D] You really canīt leave ANYTHING for granted!!! You leave out a screwdriver in the background and folks start getting all sorts of Ideas! Thank God you build models (I used to) and had the right answer! Itīs a niffty technique to weld tracks, and saved you from a "basic instinct" [;)]

Had a good laugh though! Maybe thereīs a saw in the cake, and your visiting Clint Eastwood at Alcatraz [:D]

Neogodhobo -> RE: What are you giving for Christmas? (12/10/2017 10:26:05 PM)

I am not Christian so I made a choice to stop celebrating Christian holidays ( that my parents would make me participate, even though I told them I didnt want to every single year... but I digress ).

I am proud now that since my 17 yrs of age. I do not celebrate Christian Holidays ( or any other religious holidays ). I instead, created my own holidays to celebrate, wich are, all major events in my life and their days of happening. I prefer it that way. None of those celebrations are about buying although my wife and I often end up full and tipsy haha.

That is impressive of you actually.

I'm Christian, and I kinda wish most of the Christian holidays, actually WERE Christian entirely. Christmas, for all the hoopla, isn't really a Christian event. Oh, we tell ourselves it is. Jesus wasn't born in December, the tree isn't a Christian icon, the date chosen is really just a stolen pagan event. Mistletoe is not Christian. In fact, the entire event is barely Christian. Comically, the only portion of Christmas that's actually accurate is St Nickolas and were tell children when they get older, he doesn't exist. Actually, he did/does.

I do wish it was more about just meeting with family and not a commercial spectacle though. But thanks to the internet and Amazon, even Black Friday no longer matters. People shop for bargains all year round now. My main spending moment these days (for frivolous things that is), is the 29/30th of the month (when I can safely spend any residual knowing I will have fresh funds the next day). The tricky part is having 'residual' funds :)

Neogodhobo -> RE: What are you giving for Christmas? (12/11/2017 3:28:16 PM)

MrsWargamer :

Exactly. When I told my wife what I was doing ( I met her at 25 ) she thought it was awesome as well. She told me about Christmas being Pagan originally. ( She is of Jewish descent but she does not practice religion, her grandfather and Father who survive the concentration camps decided they would stop showing off as Jewish and they changed their last name and everything that had to do with their religion because they were scared it would happen again in history and didn't want their future relative to live the same, but I digress again ) She told me basically the same thing you said just now.

Anyway so she went on full board with my idea and now the day we met ( 12 February ) is our biggest holiday :D.

I often tell myself I should wait for Black Friday before buying stuff like electronics or video games, but I always find myself buying what I want, whenever I want it. haha. I hate waiting... But its okay, I mean, I can only really enjoy my house 6 months a year, because Im gone the other 6 months to work so.. It would suck for me to wait 4 months before buying something, and only enjoying it 2 months before leaving again.

They are still people out there celebrating just to see their family but its rare. I know they must exist but I haven't personally met any. Ah but what can we do. The show must go on [&o]

I go see my family and relatives. I have traveled hundreds of kilometers and about half a day (back and forth total) to see my sister and her kids, and to deliver them gifts. This time I have invited them over here to show the kids my old 8 & 16 bit game consoles (NES & Mega Drive), and HTC Vive to my sister. It's a surprise, so shh...
