gw15 -> Updater (12/5/2017 2:18:56 AM)

When I click on 'check for updates' it replies there is a new update. So I download it but after that the updater stops and says it
cannot update a file that is in use. The file in use is the updater file. I can close it but then the updater is closed.
What's going on?

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/5/2017 3:25:25 AM)

atm best advice is wait for a new patch, as one is in the works atm, but normally it's a anti virus or firewall issue, or net error tbh

VPaulus -> RE: Updater (12/5/2017 5:24:06 PM)

I am sorry for the issue and for the delay in fixing this, but this should now be fixed.
Provided you are looking for the 64-bit version and are not running a 32-bit version of Windows, please do the below:

1. Please go to the Documents folder for the game (Default: Documents\My Games\Order of Battle – WW2) and delete the folder called “Settings”.

2. Uninstall the both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the game and then go to the folder where the game was installed and ensure no files/folders remain

3. Download the file attached in this message "OoB_ClRegx64.zip".

4. Unzip the downloaded file and run the extracted file "OoB_ClRegx64.reg".

5. Allow the "program" to delete the Windows registry keys regarding the game.

6. Install 5.2.1 of the game from the link below and reinstall the game:
http://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/OrderOfBattle-WWII/OrderOfBattle-WorldWarII-Setup64Release-v5.2.1.zip

7. Reinstall all DLCs

8. Run the game and ensure that all DLCs are showing as unlocked and the game is working.

If you need to download your DLCs you can do it from the member’s area. Please see the forum post below which explains how to do this:

ADMIRAL3 -> RE: Updater (12/6/2017 9:59:00 AM)

I do not intend to reinstall any stuff. I will wait until you produce a valuable patch capable to do all those actions without requiring an informatic scientist. You must do this and I m sure you are capable to do it.

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/6/2017 10:08:11 AM)

there has been to major undertakings which most wont know what or why is happening, so i'll try and explain

first, the game has been rebuilt to work with fully, a 64bit o/s not a quick 2 min job either, so needs a newer base installer, which is above, so the older 32bit one, can't be upgraded to etc etc

and second,

unity on which the game is coded on, has also been updated, again a rather long and large process and again not a easy job, so add in the 2, equals for most, apart from the 32bit users, a reinstall, as the above only uninstalls the older 32bit version but leaves the games save in place, nothing is lost, but lots are gained, larger battle and mods can now be made, which won;t work as good in the 32bit versions with the 32bit limits etc etc

so nobody will force anyone to use the 64bit one either, as thats a choice you have to make, but any game converting from 32bit to a 64bit one, eg can run on both, as atm both are still supported and always i guess will be, the newer 64bit version will need to be a fresh install

VPaulus -> RE: Updater (12/6/2017 11:08:02 AM)

If you have a 64bit Windows version you'll have to reinstall the game. I'm sorry but there's no other way.

DISREGARD THIS : I downloaded the zip file, but it appears to be an empty folder, no contents. Are you sure this is right? You can't run nothing... or is my computer doing something weird?

OK, I"m trying from the members dl section and it appears to be taking longer and dl'ing something. So let me give this one a try.

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:09:12 PM)

I followed your steps.
Step 1 was easy
Step 2: I uninstalled 64 bit version via the OOB program files. Tried the same with the 32- bit version but I received the following
error message:
"Failed to load plugin: C:Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Order of Battle - WWII\Uninstall\Wow64.imd(#1)"

Now what?

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:15:55 PM)

if it failed on the uninstall etc, either reboot and try again, or do a manual delete, which would mean you need to remove the game folder and all it's files and then carry in it from the steps, i use ccleaner to do repairs etc, but atm no one else has run into the error you have mentioned, on either sites

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:24:27 PM)

After deleting all known files, etc. I have 5.2.2 running fine EXCEPT it does not recognize my two purchases. What am I doing wrong now?

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:33:30 PM)

reinstall all DLC's owned now you have the base version at the right state, eg 5.2.2 etc

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:47:21 PM)

I did reinstall the DLC's. No workie, i.e. 5.2.2 does not recognize them.

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 3:49:30 PM)

so retry the DLC once more now the base game has been updated

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 4:09:54 PM)

Nope still trying to get me to buy the DLC's again.

VPaulus -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 4:59:45 PM)

Delete the file named "Serials.dat" in the Windows documents folder:
...\Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Settings

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 7:03:01 PM)

Thanks VPaulus but that didn't work either.
I have opened a help ticket with Slitherine. It's a great game so I hope they can fix it.
Something about the DLC's do not work with 5.2.2 I suspect.

gw15 -> RE: Updater (12/8/2017 8:28:59 PM)

I installed 5.2.1 from Matrix but did NOT update to 5.2.2. That worked.

mikemike -> RE: Updater (12/10/2017 4:00:27 AM)

I have followed all the steps in your post to install the 64-bit 5.2.1. Now I'm missing "Rising Sun" and "U.S. Pacific". How do I get those DLCs back? Install the V2.48-Setup Release?

zakblood -> RE: Updater (12/10/2017 6:12:17 AM)

no, now the game should auto update to 5.2.2, then you can install the dlc's

you may now also have to re delete the serials file again in the folder

quote:

Delete the file named "Serials.dat" in the Windows documents folder:
...\Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Settings

and if you get any errors or they dont work now, also the settings folder etc, but then if you have followed the steps, all should be working

Done that, deleted first the serials file (twice), then the settings folder, but on restarting the game, I saw "New Content" messages for "Rising Sun", "U.S.Pacific" and "Panzerkrieg", but "Rising Sun" and "U.S.Pacific" still stubbornly remain greyed out. I have installed all DLCs I bought separately successfully, and they are registered in the serials file with (I presume) the license key, but there are also "PacificUS" and "PacificJapan" entries, both with the same key entry:
PacificUS5C81g+bUUhyKC8efCqBOsw==
PacificJapan5C81g+bUUhyKC8efCqBOsw==

Something has clearly gone wrong here. Please advise.

Is this in the Windows registry?

mikemike -> RE: Updater (12/10/2017 9:03:11 PM)

No, these are the first entries after "Free" and "Default" in serials.dat ("settings" folder).

Sorry to slither you over to Slitherine, but please make sure it's not this little detail:

mikemike -> RE: Updater (12/11/2017 5:19:38 PM)

Thanks for the tip, BRU888. I completely overlooked that little detail - aaaargh! Well, time flies if you're having fun[:@]. Worked like a charm, however - finally. Problem solved.

bru888 -> RE: Updater (12/11/2017 11:07:11 PM)

That's good, glad to help. [:)]

MarkP1 -> RE: Updater (12/18/2017 9:19:39 PM)

Hello

I had been having a problem having just purchased today the Burma Road DLC for Order of Battle: WWII. Where I installed it with the serial number and it didn't show up as installed and available on startup, greyed out.

I can add that I followed the procedure as posted in Post#: 3 by VPaulus. I have the original Order of Battle: Pacific edition on disc. I put my serial number in where needed on installing the 64-bit version 5.2.3 of what is now Order of Battle: WWII.

For my first post on the forums I can now report everything is working fine, the original content of Order of Battle: Pacific (Boot Camp, U.S. Pacific and Rising Son) and also the Burma Road DLC. [:)]

bru888 -> RE: Updater (12/18/2017 10:26:58 PM)

I love Tech Support problems that resolve themselves. [;)]
