I decided to take advantage of purchasing a couple of new games from the sales going on. I haven't bought a game in a long time. Only to find out the download doesn't give me the latest version of the game. I would have been really mad if I hadn't found out by accident that there had been several updates to the games I purchased and had started playing with the now obsolete versions. .
It could be another long time before I try again.

You will probably get a more useful response if you mention which game it was that caused issues. It is definitely true that some games do not get full remasters, depending upon the size of the updates.

Cheers

On top of that, patches/updates seem to be all over the place, not every download location has the newest version, and some sources abort the downloads before completion.

To respond to the first poster, not every game is updated to the latest version in terms of the base installer in the store. The process of going back and "re-mastering" tends to happen if particularly critical issues are addressed in a later update (that are still present in the store version) or simply as time allows. We've never stated that each update results in a store re-master and frankly that would not actually possible within our schedule. We do go back and re-master per the above guidelines as often as we can.

Regarding the post just above, a lot more specifics would certainly be helpful. Which download locations are you looking in, which games and updates are you talking about and which sources are aborting the downloads?

Regards,

- Erik

Panzer Corps under Products page has newest version as v.126 from 26 MAY 2016. In Members Downloads page newest version is v1.30 from 1 OCT 2016. I'll see how download goes from Members Downloads this time.

Well, what do you know? Panzer Corps v1.30 came out fine from Members Downloads page. Either there was a problem which has been fixed, or my memory is failing.

If you are married your memory will never be as good as your wife's. She will remember something you did wrong ten lifetimes ago and drag it up at just the right moment to use it against you. [:D]

On the updates, I bought John Tillers Campaign Series and Gray Grigsby A World Divided. For JT's the Members download shows V1DR while I was able to find a V2.2 and for GG's the Members download shows V1.00 while I was able to find a V1.04.

As to my original complaint. When I click on the purchase button for these games, I expected to get the latest official version and that's not what was downloaded. I do not live in an area where high speed internet is an option. So I'm paying by the "download" data KBs in addition to the game prices.

So, if Matrix can repackage the downloads to be the latest official version and I don't have to wander through many different pages for the latest version, it helps me out.
